Optoma ML550

The Optoma ML550 is bright for its size, with a palmtop form factor and a 500-lumen rating.

Highly portable. Reads files from internal memory, microSD cards, and USB memory keys. LED light source claims 20,000 hour lifetime.

Shows scaling artifacts (unwanted patterns added to some screens) at its claimed native resolution.

If the Optoma ML550 offered even a little better image quality, it could easily be Editors' Choice. As it is, the 3M Mobile Projector MP410 does just enough better on that score to make up for its lower brightness and slightly heavier weight. If you...

Optoma ML550 Review

From the inside and outside, the Optoma ML550 benefits from strong specifications. It's missing some features found on projectors built for home use and as such is more likely to appeal to business users, but it has stellar build quality and image...

The Optoma ML550 has stellar color accuracy and image quality.

The projector is missing some features for home users like Bluetooth support and an internal battery.

The ML550’s combination of excellent build and image quality makes it a strong option for business users.

Produces 500 lumens of light output in a really tiny package measuring 4.1ʺ x 1.5ʺ x 4.2ʺ, 10,000:1 Constrast Ratio, Expect up to 20,00o hours of lamp life from the LED light source, Supports HDMI input, Able to read all these movie file formats: .avi,...

For VGA input you will always need the universal I/O cable, Has a proprietary power supply that makes the projector a little less portable, The file viewer is not as user-friendly as it could be, but it is currently being updated by the Optoma to work...

The bottom line on the Optoma ML550 is that it is a very satisfactory projector with brightness and picture quality to make it a great choice. If you are the type of traveler that loves powerful in a very tiny package then Optoma has done an excellent...

It's expensive, but a wide range of ports and bright bulb make this one of the best ultraportable projectors so far

REVIEW: Optoma ML550

Don't let the lack of inches fool you, the Optoma ML550 (around £350 ex. VAT) is a highly capable and surprisingly bright LED projector, equipped with the same business-class features as larger Optoma products. Features such as HDMI and VGA...

Having tried mobile LED Projectors in the past and not been that impressed, we were more than pleasantly surprised by what Optoma has managed to achieve with the ML550. Not only is it tiny and very portable (we’ve got bigger digital cameras!), it also...

Optoma ML550

The Optoma ML550 is about the size of earlier-generation 300-lumen WXGA (1,280-by-800) palmtop projectors, but offers a 500-lumen rating.

Data image quality is best described as more than acceptable for most purposes. Video is one step below that, making the projector usable for video, but far from impressive.

It really is tiny! The power cable bundle is bigger than the projector

Could have done with being a bit brighter

Optoma ML550

This makes portable projection a usable reality (I should trade mark that)

If it was quieter it would be a perfect product

Optoma ML550

Very light Great image quality Easy to set up

If mounted in permanent position tends to need refocusing quite regularly however this is easy to do.
