Performance

Panasonic PT-AE900U

Relatively inexpensive; solid video processing with 2:3 pull-down; excellent features for setup, including long zoom and horizontal and vertical lens shift; very bright and capable of driving large screen sizes; numerous picture-tweaking options.

Black-level performance and contrast ratio not up to DLP standards; somewhat soft HD images.

While not quite as impressive as more expensive DLPs, the budget Panasonic PT-AE900U LCD is the champion of its price bracket so far.

Panasonic PT-AE900U LCD Projector Review

We got our first glimpse of the Panasonic PT-AE900U at this year's CEDIA Expo in Indianapolis. While the projector wasn't displaying picture at the booth, we were excited to see that it sported the

ZERO screen door effect from real viewing distances ; Excellent contrast ; Deep, rich colors ; Consumer adjustment of RGB gain, cut and gamma ; Backlit LEARNING remote ; Finely adjustable color temperature ; 3000 hour lamp life ; Can move OSD position

Requires calibration out of the box ; IR sensor on front only ; Overscan enabled by default ; More optical zoom would be welcome ; Friends may show up unexpectedly to watch movies ; No 12V trigger

Panasonic PT-AE900U LCD Front Projector

HDTVs are becoming increasingly affordable as price erosion takes a firm foothold with this technology. Still, as with so many things in life, you most often get what you pay for in hometheater equipment. Front projectors have never been more...

The PT-AE900U is one of the leastexpensive high-resolution projectors on the market, but as I said earlier, you get what you pay for. Given that fact, you have to expect some performance shortcomings, like the slightly soft picture due to the quality...

Panasonic PT-AE900U LCD Projector

What's not to like? This may very well be one of the easiest reviews I've ever done. Within five minutes of watching HDTV through Panasonic's new PT-AE900U LCD projector, I was hooked. I fully expected, as the review process progressed, to have to play...

Yep, there's a lot to like about the PT-AE900U, but versatility is undoubtedly its greatest asset. We've looked at several HD LCD projectors over the past year, some of which carry lower MSRPs than this one. However, all of those projectors came with...

Panasonic PT-AE900U LCD Projector

Panasonic has been in the game for some time now, first with the PT-AE500U and just last year with the PT-AE700U. But the market is changing fast, and with the competition heating up the new PT-AE900U ($3199) is designed to keep Panasonic in the hunt...

All videophiles are looking for the holy grail--a video projector that will blow everything else out of the water and cost next to nothing. Short of the industry adopting the business model used for computer printers (charging $100 for the projector...

Review: Panasonic PT-AE900U

Panasonic has been rolling out highly competitive widescreen home theater projectors using LCD technology since early 2002. The first models, the PT-AE100, the PT-AE200, and the PT-AE300 were lower resolution products. However, with the introduction of...

The Panasonic AE900 is an impressive step beyond last year's AE700. It is a particularly strong solution for users who place a premium on color accuracy. Panasonic has invested a great deal of time and energy into developing projectors that deliver...

Panasonic PT-AE900u

Just above the Input and Menu buttons are three indicator lights - one for standby/on (red/green), a lamp light and a temperature warning light. And that takes care of the top

As a parting note, to make your home theater experience the most enjoyable and stress free, I recommend you not quibble over the last few dollars when choosing a dealer. Find a dealer that knows their stuff, has good policies, and can also advise you...
