Denon AVR-1613

The Denon AVR-1613 is a capable home theater receiver, with five channels of clean power and comprehensive iPod and AirPlay integration, but it could use some refinements.

Sleek front panel. Clean, powerful sound quality. iPod and AirPlay integration works well. Useful front-panel inputs including five HDMI inputs with video switching. Native Pandora and SiriusXM support.

Buggy iPod connectivity. Networking via wired Ethernet only. USB port doesn't work with iPads?just iPhones and iPods. Rudimentary on-screen graphics look awful. No HD Radio or AM tuner. Stubborn remote. Denon's iOS app needs a rethink.

AirPlay and Conclusions On the plus side, AirPlay connectivity worked great. Once I configured the unit over wired Ethernet, I had no problem streaming music from various AirPlay-compatible devices to the AVR-1613. The receiver displays album art on...

Prone to break

This is the unit i use for my PC because PC speaker systems are just horrible now-a-days. Can't stand 'em.

on-unit menus are great for when you're not using it for video. on-unit menu is also easy to use. Can't speak for on-screen menu I've never used it

Easy to setup for a non-audiophile

And, after the auto-balancing, our surround sound is much better. Also, I think the sound quality is cleaner than when we had the speakers wired straight to the blu-ray player. Larger than I thought it would be, but still fits on the shelf.
