Despite its many plus points, there's no denying that Cambridge Audio's Azur 650R has a delivery that's just too excitable for us

Enthusiastic, gregarious sound ; plenty of inputs and outputs…

...except where HDMI sockets are concerned ; ultimately sounds rather like being shouted out

Competition is fearsome at this price point, so any less than ‘very impressive’ won’t really do

Cambridge Audio 650R

 

Exciting home theatre sound. Goes plenty loud. Attractive design.

Only three HDMI inputs. Not quite cutting-edge. Setup isn't straightforward. Better at movies than music. Digital switching has issues.

The Cambridge Audio is an attractive 7.1-channel receiver with support for all of the relevant sound formats, but a lack of HDMI inputs and a tendency for harshness may put you off.
