Onkyo TX-NR708 Networked AV Receiver Preview

Newly upgraded to include networked functionality from the preceding TX-SR707, the TX-NR708 7.2 channel receiver is the mid-fi star in Onkyo's 2010 refresh to its entire line up of AV receivers.

Onkyo TX-NR708 3D and Network-Enabled Home Theater Receiver - Product Review

The TX-NR708 delivers great sound. Practical features I liked included: Comprehensive surround sound processing, analog-to-HDMI video conversion and upscaling, abundant HDMI connections, dedicated phono input, iPod connectivity, and 3D pass-through.

Onkyo TX-NR708 7.2 3D Ready Network A/V Receiver Reviewed

Onkyo is a leader in modern receiver technologies. The TX-NR708 A/V features seven channels of amplification and "more features packed into this affordable powerhouse that a reviewer could blow his word count just trying to list them all." It "manages...

For just under $900 retail the Onkyo TX-NR708 does a lot of things right, including being at the bleeding edge of today's latest 3D and surround sound trends, which is very impressive, all things considered. While there are aspects of the TX-NR708's...

The unimaginable horror

Just another review, like many others with problems. I've owned this for 6 months, but only used it for 4-5 months. It lives on a shelf with plenty of opportunity for air circulation. It was working great, sounding great. And then... strange things...

Sounds Great

Flaked out and got really bad just 6 months into ownership. Onkyo's response? Ship me an empty box (receive in 7-10 days), and then it gets shipped to some 3rd-party authorized repair shop. Turn-around time? Unknown

Major Issue with TX-NR708

Shame on you Onkyo for not providing better customer support on known issues with these recievers.

Wonderful when it worked

Locked up after 5 months of ownership. Remote won't control it, front panel buttons have no effect. Cycling power isn't even a reliable fix. It is an embarrassment to Onkyo

My Wife Is Angry

I'm still lost in all the options, it'll take a few weeks to tweak this to my liking.

Excellent configurability ; Many sound filter options to make the best of your speaker setup ; Audyssey auto-setup alone is worth the price difference from the TX-SR608. The mic that comes with it even has a threaded hole in the base to mount to a...

A very (VERY) slight degradation in picture quality (mostly a slight "fuzzing" of fonts) when passing through video from my HTPC, even when set to "Through" mode. Note that this is barely visible to me on a 65" TV set to 1080p resolution with the...

Fine Receiver-Volume works at way below 50%

Do not just rely on the auto setting. give yourself about an hour or two and go thru the manual. do not just read it follow the steps and see what you actually get. mark down the original setting so you can always go back to it. i always do. Again...

This setting below works for me regarding the volume below 50% issue ; on the remote select home>audio>....>CENTER LEVEL (-12db and 12db) raise to any level you want ; also make sure Dynamic EQ is "on", dynamic Volume set to "Light ; Also do...

Just a little issue with the remote. i think it is missing an option to have all button illuminated for use in the dark. i found myself using a flash light at the beginning (now know pretty much where all the main buttons are located) ; It might seem a...

TX-NR708 Works Great for Me

The only thing that would make this product better would be to back-light the descriptions for the buttons on the front (give the ability to disable this feature). I almost always have to use a flashlight to read those tiny buttons. It's not that big a...

Switches my Tivo, Comcast cable box, Blue Ray Disc player, input from PC plus my old audio stuff like a turn table, cassette deck and VCR

When you setup a 5.1 speaker configuration (2 front, 2 back with 1 center & a subwoofer) hook your back speakers to the side speaker connections. Otherwise, the Audyssey speaker setup process with the microphone won't work ; I also had an issue with...
