Onkyo TX-NR1009 THX Select2 Plus Networking Home Theater Receiver First Look

As manufacturers add more and more features to their receiver offering, it gets harder to impress the public. Onkyo has long been known to bring new features to market first. They do this again with the TX-NR1009, the first receiver with DTS Neo:X...

We've been mighty impressed with the recent offerings from Onkyo but we have to say that the TX-NR1009 has left is a little underwhelmed. When you compare it to the Onkyo TX-NR809, you have to look pretty hard to see where your extra $200 is going....

Onkyo TX-NR1009 9.2-Channel Network A/V Receiver

When one looks to upgrade an AVR, one must take much into consideration: features, number of inputs and outputs, multizone capability, channels of amplification, power rating, and, of course, cost. The sub-$1,000 market is loaded with AVRs that offer a...

Firmware updates are a double-edged sword for consumers. On the one hand, we can easily fix a faulty feature in our electronics by either downloading an update directly to the device or from the company’s website. On the other, it allows manufacturers...

Onkyo TX-NR1009

Exemplary performance and abundant features make Onkyo's pricey powerhouse receiver a must-buy.

Sublime Blu-ray sound quality ; Extensive feature list ; Build quality

Expensive ; A tad complicated for beginners ; No search function for media playback

Our love affair with Onkyo’s AV receivers continues with this wonderful home entertainment hub. The amount of features on board is actually quite overwhelming – DLNA and Spotify music streaming are highlights and the world’s first appearance of DTS...

Onkyo TX-NR1009 review

The bigger brother of the TX-NR709 (reviewed in HCC 202), Onkyo's TX-NR1009 boasts a bulkier frame, greater muscle and a fuller spec sheet – including a claimed 9 x 180W power output (into 6Ohms) and DTS Neo:X, the latest audio mode to deliver extra...

Excellent AV performance; good-looking; net-savvy

Needs a music search function; Wi-Fi costs extra; who needs Audyssey, DTS and Dolby height options

Works for me

Use for home theater. Easy to set up, but was surprised to see how big it was. Can't set up zone without an amp - I had a yamaha that didn't need an amp to get zone to work. Other than that, great product.

Good Remote Control, Great Sound Quality, Easy To Setup

Fantastic system

What a great 9 channel system!! I had a Harmon Kardon AVR-7550HD and it was great when it worked ( not very often). I took it in for service at Harmon Kardon, they returned it to me via UPS and I was most fortunate. UPS lost the receiver and paid me...
