The Downward Spiral

My previous receiver purchase was an Onkyo also and it lasted longer than this one (a hair), until the DSP chip started to fail. Needless to say, I will not be purchasing this brand again...

Flexibility: This receiver comes with a plethora of features and seemed to be a great price. Additionally, Onkyo have a great history when it comes to build and sound quality

Great receiver when on sale

The best part is, if you run into trouble, Onkyo's support people actually work from your receiver and they easy to understand. Something like this needs good supports.

Plenty of HDMI inputs, you can hook (2) TVs to it, (2) subs. I have yet to run into anything I couldn't connect ; It's even future proof with Dolby THX & 4K support ; Everything on this receiver is a pro! You will not find a better receiver at this...

The main con and I'm not sure it's Onkyo's fault, is the HDMI control with other components. When I turn off the TV to listen to something that doesn't require it, the TV goes off and switches to TV speaker for some reason. Pressing up or down on the...

Not as good as aspected

The price

Had this unit for a few weeks. Hooked up to a pair of definitive Procinema 600 speakers. The sound is alright but definitely not impressed. Horrible on screen interface (Very lacking) does not even display volume level on the tv only on receiver!!!...

Second one just broke...

Save yourself the trouble...

Great unit while it worked

but it didn't work for long ; First unit dead on arrival, replacement worked for a few weeks before the HDMI board died. Got the dreaded and infamous "no signal" problem worked on and off for a few mins and then finally died for good
