Pioneer VSX-921 review

The Pioneer VSX-921 is a solid all-round performer, but lacks a little refinement

Good looks ; AirPlay included ; thorough set-up ; punchy agile sound ; good upscaling

Fewer HDMI sockets than rivals ; bright, brash edge to the sound

The Pioneer produces a rip-roaring sound that lacks a little refinement in places

Very pleased so far

Glad I have this receiver and can highly recommend it for the money. Get a set of great speakers from NewEgg (Energy 5.1 if you can get them) and rock the house!

Great upscaling - nice picture ; Excellent sound ; Great buy for the money

HDMI through is a little unusual to set up (I've seen reports that people can't get it to work, but I'm not going to mess with it) ; MCACC is archaic-looking ; Not the easiest receiver to set up out of the box, but it works well when you do get it set up

Great receiver for the price

I bought this to replace an Onkyo that was part of a 7.1 package. It works great with the Onkyo speakers, and has a really nice sound quality to it. The HDMI inputs have made my wiring job that much simpler. If I had it to do over again, I'd opt for...

Great price, 4 HDMI inputs, plenty of other inputs

On screen interface is very 8-bit in appearance, lacking built in Internet

Great deal! Good Reciever!

Easy to setup using Auto MCACC and included microphone. Lots of features and inputs/outputs. Exceptional FM sensitivity and reception for an a/v receiver using just the FM antenna provided ; Works like a charm! I bought this on sale Thanksgiving day...

As far as I can tell the Receiver has to be on and in standby to pass HDMI signal through to TV so you can use just TV speakers. Have tried all sorts of combinations and different HDMI inputs to no avail. Would like to be able to watch TV without...

Great price (on sale), 3D-ready, easy MCACC surround setup, clean audio, Sirius-ready

Lacking the internet connection found on the next model up (vsx 1021) means no internet radio and no networking with PC media. I have a PS3 so I can just use that and end up with the same exact effect, but would be nice to have it all in the receiver....

Great Receiver

This is a great unit for the price I paid. overall this unit has the essential required of a receiver for 2011.

Nice design ; Runs Cool in comparison to my last receiver ; Easy to setup the speakers with MCACC ; Features provided with this unit are acceptable for the price

Bluetooth adapter not provided ; The on screen GUI for setup could use an upgrade

Almost just alike

It has the blu-tooth connection in the back just like the 921 ,it has the cables to hook up to a i-pod or i-phone,as for as the amp it has the same spec's.I bought mine for $229 and I was very surprise to how good it does sound .I had a Onkyo 707,but...

I am looking at this and thought it was the VSX-920,but going over the spec's they are very close to being the same thing.I give it 5 stars because of all you get for the price

The blue tooth could have come with it,could of had wireless internet build in to it

Pioneer VSX921

Great sounding unit. Speaker set up function with microphone is AWESOME !!!.

Instruction manual is crap. Had to figure out set up to suit my PS3 . Couldn't find instruction for presetting radio channels. Luckily the unit makes sense so got that figured out.
