Adesso Vista Remote Control Review

Being a reviewer it's nice to get products that don't have many flaws, and the Vista Remote is one of them, I really could not find anything wrong with this product at all. It features a range of almost 33 ft, numerous buttons to control every aspect...

Works without Windows MCE ; Plug and play ; Nothing to install ; Easy installation ; Well made ; Long range ; Very multi-functional ; Inexpensive

None really

I would like to thank Adesso for the chance to review the Vista Remote Control and for their support of DSM.

Highly Compatible w/different OSes

So far, I've used it successfully with Windows XP 32-bit, Windows 7 64-bit and Ubuntu 11.10 64-bit. Didn't need to DL any special drivers or anything; just plugged it in and it worked

Cursor moves a little slower than I'd like. IR receiver is easily blocked by fast-moving toddlers

great for a barebones HTPC setup.

works fine with VLC, drivers auto-detected in win7. Mouse pad is a nice addition, although a little slow at first. IR range is fine, and seems to work at weird angles

light on receiver is very bright, comes on every time a button is pushed, strobes constantly when using mousepad. distracting, but not enough to deduct an egg

Works Perfectly!!!

Guess third time is the charm!! I have a Dell M101z, Intel i3, W7 Ultimate. This is the 3rd remote ordered. Finally found one that works. AVS Gear MG-IR01BK and Rosewill's RRC-127 were both duds. Third times the charm!!

Placed batteries in the remote. (Note: the batteries had thin plastic on each for protection). Plugged in USB IR receiver, it immediately loaded drivers, software and updated itself. Device is now working as described within two minutes. Effortless

Does NOT Transmit MCE standard codes

If all you want are the buttons that are on the remote provided, you will be happy. BUT if you want separate ON OFF commands or all the keyboard shortcuts....look elsewhere!

Remote works as advertised

Remote does note transmit/receive the standard MCE IR commands so you cannot use the WMC SE device that has all the great commands with a Harmony remote

Works great

My wife liked it, so I'm ordering another one for the other DVR.

Mouse pad is nice option to have ; Good enough range

No reconfiguring utility, which would make this remote almost perfect

Works great

Mouse function is nice.

Works out of the box on Win 7 x64. Better than a Rosewill and the remote that comes with the Aver media tuner

Wish it had a backlight

Wish the IR was a micro reciever so I could just plug into the front of the case. For $17 I am not taking a star away.

Since there is so much mixed reviews on the internet about using a Harmony Remote with mce I figured I would clear it up. It can be done. Buy this remote for the ir load harmony software. Load the remote with tv av receiver and ortek vrc-1100 mce...

Can't get the ir by itself

Nothing wrong with it

1. mouse "pad" is a little slow and takes some getting used to. I haven't tried to adjust it as I only use it occasionally and it works for me 2. button positions are not what I would consider ideal. 3. Since I started using it every 15 minutes or so...

1. All the buttons are there ; 2. range is great (it's about 60 foot from my kitchen through the dining room through the den and it works from there) ; 3. build quality is good (my 3 year promptly dropped it on my rock fireplace and the remote suffered...

1. no backlight ; 2. as some reviewers mentioned you have to point it directly at the reciever ; 3. I hate the location of the record button. Maybe a personal problem but I keep hitting record when I mean to skip forward ; 4. included directions are...
