Plustek OpticBook 3800

The Plustek OpticBook 3800 lets you easily scan books or other bound material, minimizing distortion and shadow artifacts that are unavoidable with standard flatbed scanners.

Lets you scan a book page to the edge of the spine. Software eliminates distortion and shadow artifacts, and lets you automatically rotate facing pages. Also scans documents and photos.

Mediocre scan quality. Lacks an automatic document feeder (ADF). Can't scan pages larger than A4 size.

Plustek OpticBook 3800 review

This scanner is a good idea for anyone needing to archive books or magazines, but its performance in our tests suggest it's not worth the premium price

Plustek OpticBook 3800 review

Plustek's OpticBook 3800 scanner doesn't look particularly innovative or interesting, and its appearance can be politely described as functional. The control panel is simplicity itself, with four buttons, three of them (all very generously...

Nonetheless, provided you don't mind holding down the lid for books and other difficult source material, the Plustek OpticBook 3800's results should prove very pleasing. It's fast and accurate, and when combined with the very latest OCR software, will...

Scanning Brought To Book : Plustek OpticBook 3800 Professional Book Scanner

Although an ordinary flat-bed scanner handles individual documents and photos without any difficulty, there are problems when one needs to scan pages in a book or any other bound material. This is because the spine prevents the pages being held flat on...

It is black and silver in colour and is roughly 11 x 18 x 4inches high. With its large Cancel, Colour, Grayscale and B&W buttons it has a business-like appearance. Unlike normal flat-bed scanners, where the edge of the glass platen is an inch or more...

Works well for scanning bound material

Scans bound material well because there is no edge you can get the materials to wrap around the scanner enough to get to the inner margin of the page. Even if loose some with the material tight against the edge you can move it where middle part of the...

Scan quality could be better I find that I need to do some post processing in photo shop to get the best results. This is NOT a good scanner for doing photo enlargements as the quality of the scans are not enough for that. For digitizing a collection...
