All of Amazon's new Echo speakers reviewed

Amazon's new Echo Dot does everything the original did and sounds significantly better than before. If you prefer Alexa to the Google Assistant, the Echo Dot is a great way to add a smart speaker to your home.

Adds significant bass to an existing Echo speaker setup ; Pairing with other speakers is straightforward

Expensive

But I don't imagine many people specifically buying pairs of the Echo Dot or Plus specifically for stereo music. Anyone thinking about that is likely considering better speakers than Amazon sells. This all makes the existence of the Echo Sub even more...

Amazon Echo Dot 3 review: Alexa's best Dot yet plays defense

At the same irresistible price, it looks and sounds better than ever. But can it slow Google's growing momentum?

The new Echo Dot looks and sounds better than ever, and now you can pair two together for stereo audio. The ongoing space race between Alexa and Google Assistant means it'll keep getting a steady stream of new features. Best of all: It's still just $50.

It doesn't come in any fun colors like the Home Mini does, and it doesn't feature any new hardware tricks, either. Aside from the new look and the stronger sound, it's just the same Dot as before.

This is the best Dot yet at the same irresistible price -- but it will do little to slow Google's growing momentum.

Amazon Echo Dot (3rd gen) review: A big step up in terms of design and musicality

The new third-generation Echo Dot delivers better audio performance than the Google Home Mini.

A very inexpensive voice-powered smart home controller ; Best sounding audio in its class ; Pretty industrial design

It’s still not a speaker I’d recommend for critical music listening ; $10 more expensive than the 2nd-gen model if you don’t care about its musicality ; Google Home Mini offers tighter integration with Android smartphones

If you’re buying your first smart speaker and you’re mostly interested in controlling your smart home devices and retrieving news, weather forecasts, and other information from the internet, save yourself 10 bucks and buy the second-generation Echo Dot...

Amazon Echo Dot Review (3rd Generation)

With the proliferation of Alexa in all kinds of devices, support has pushed the assistant to grow increasingly self-sufficient, lessening the need for additional hubs with Echo devices. So, by its third generation, is the Echo Dot truly all you need?

Inexpensive, currently selling for $30 alone and even less in bundles ; Best audio among mini smart speakers, 3.5mm jack and Bluetooth to supplement ; Backed by Amazon’s leading, largest skill and device library ; More refined home décor look compared...

Axing microUSB power makes device and plug more proprietary ; Alexa still lags behind Google Assistant in answering a broader set of queries and doing so more accurately

Amazon Echo Dot (3rd Gen) Review: Great Looks, Greater Sound

When we reviewed the second-gen Echo Dot, our only complaint was that its speaker wasn't great for music. Well, Amazon fixed that, making the third-generation Dot a smart speaker that's actually worth listening to. At $49, the third-gen Dot is the...

Inexpensive ; Nice design ; Vastly improved audio

Can't change its look

With a nicer design and vastly improved audio, the third-generation Echo Dot is Amazon's best, cheapest speaker yet.

Amazon Echo Dot (3rd Gen) Review | Trusted Reviews

Better looking, louder and clearer than the previous model, the Amazon Echo Dot (3rd Gen) is an improvement in every way over the previous model.

Clear and loud audio ; 3.5mm and Bluetooth audio outputs ; Same price as old model ; Improved design

No longer USB-powered ; Not ideal for music

Better-looking, louder and clearer than the previous generation, the Amazon Echo Dot (3rd Gen) is a vast improvement over its predecessor and it even costs the same. It's the ideal smart home companion for placing all around your home.

Amazon Echo Dot (3rd generation) review

The most enticing way to bring Alexa into your home

Clear, solid sound ; Improved Alexa capabilities ; Budget price

Alexa intelligence is limited

For not a lot of money you get a whole load of smart voice functionality and decent sound

Amazon Echo Dot review (third-gen 2018): This changes everything

Amazon's new Echo Dot is an upgrade on the previous model, but the new Echo Input takes away some of its potential purchasers.

Alexa voice-control and all the smarts that brings ; Hugely improved sound quality ; Affordable

Potentially undercut by Echo Input (if you're just looking for an Alexa controller ; Not speaker)

Increasingly smart, better sounding audio and a stronger design than before: the Amazon Echo Dot is the easy access point for Alexa's skills and voice control, whether as a first Echo device, or an expansion in a growing system.

Amazon Echo Dot (3rd Generation) review

According to Amazon, the Amazon Echo Dot, which is now available in its third (and best) iteration, is the best-selling speaker of all-time.  This impressive little smart speaker makes calls almost anywhere in your country of residence, gives you...

Small, fabric design Easy setup and integration Clear call quality Improved Alexa app

No auxiliary cable included Sound quality isn’t quite there

The Amazon Echo Dot (3rd Generation) is a surprising product. It's small, but it offers a gateway into the world of the smart home and improved audio over its previous models, as well as the Google Home Mini.
