Amazon Echo Studio review: The best Echo speaker yet

Amazon's Echo speaker line has always been second-tier when it came to sound. No more. With brawling bass, hi-res audio chops, and Dolby Atmos support, the Echo Studio is Amazon's best smart speaker yet and a contender for the smart speaker of choice....

Class-leading bass ; Slick and simple setup ; Dolby Atmos and 360 Reality Audio support ; Large, sprawling soundstage ; All the Alexa smarts

Amazon Echo Flex

The Amazon Echo Flex is a tiny plug-in speaker that lets you add Alexa voice assistant features to any room of the house.

Inexpensive. Easy to set up and use. Fully functional Alexa voice capabilities.

Weak audio. Works best with a high, unobscured wall outlet.

Bottom Line: The Amazon Echo Flex is a tiny plug-in speaker that lets you add Alexa voice assistant features to any room of the house.

Amazon Echo review

The world has changed since Amazon introduced its first smart speaker in 2014. Back then, the Echo was something of an oddity -- a bookshelf speaker made interactive and, remarkably, truly useful through Amazon's voice-activated Alexa virtual...

Amazon's voice-activated smart home speaker is undeniably futuristic, but it's also practical and accessible. With a rapidly growing slate of features, integrations and use cases, it's easy to get excited about the Echo's potential.

The Echo's sound quality is slightly uneven at times, with weak bass at high volumes. It also can't distinguish between different voices like the Google Home smart speaker can.

More than two years after its debut, the smarter-than-ever Amazon Echo remains one of the best connected home products money can currently buy.

Amazon Echo review: listen up

"Alexa, what's the weather today?" "ALEXA! What's the weather today?" "ALEXA WHAT IS THE WEATHER TODAY GODDAMMIT." "Right now, in New York it's 25 degrees with clear skies and sun. Today's forecast...

Fast and simple to interact with ; Impressive mic and hearing range ; Joke-telling game is strong

Way too finicky ; Sometimes Alexa just ignores you ; Needs a real ecosystem outside of Amazon

Amazon Echo Studio review: Not quite the best smart speaker, but a fantastic value

The more-expensive Google Home Max delivers higher fidelity, and Sonos has the better multi-room ecosystem, but Amazon's best Echo shouldn't be overlooked.

Great audio performance for the money ; Supports 3D audio (Dolby Atmos and Sony 360 Reality Audio) ; Can be paired with Amazon’s inexpensive subwoofer and/or a second Studio for stereo

Lack of Z-Wave support weakens its abilities as a smart home hub ; You must subscribe to Amazon Music to get 3D audio ; Speaker enclosure is insufficently isolated from the surface it's placed on

The Echo Studio isn’t an audiophile loudspeaker, but it is an awesome speaker for the price. In terms of networked smart speakers, the $200 is the Studio’s closest competitor. It’s not nearly as powerful, but Sonos has the best multi-room audio...

Amazon Echo Flex review: This tiny plug-in speaker puts Alexa in places where other Echo devices won’t go

Just plug the compact and inexpensive Echo Flex into a wall outlet and start chatting with Alexa.

Plugs directly into an AC outlet ; Seamless setup if you already own Echo devices ; Modular design for add-ons such as a night light and a motion sensor ; Full-on Alexa functionality

Tinny audio isn't suitable for music playback ; No AC passthrough socket

While it’s certainly no music speaker (nor was it intended to be), the compact, plug-in Echo Flex makes for a great way to put Alexa in places where other Echo speakers won’t quite fit. We also love the Flex’s modular design, which allows for such...

Amazon Echo Studio vs. Google Home Max: Battle of the high-end smart speakers

One is more musical, but the other makes a better smart home controller. Which attribute is most important to you?

I’m putting greater weight on this comparison’s first round, musical performance, to declare the Google Home Max a superior smart speaker over the Amazon Echo Studio.
