Bose Frames review: These audio sunglasses sound surprisingly good

Their AR features are still in the works, but for listening to music and making calls, the Frames exceed expectations.

The Bose Frames deliver surprisingly decent sound using embedded micro speakers. While the arms are slightly bulky, the sunglasses don't feel heavy on your head and are comfortable to wear. Using the sunglasses to make calls works well. Even though the...

Battery life isn't great. There's no prescription lens option available from Bose, and adding a third-party prescription lens voids the warranty. The charging cable is proprietary.

While the audio AR features are still in the works, the Bose Frames managed to produce decent enough audio to make them a compelling wearable audio device that can take the place of headphones.

Tivoli Audio Fonico

Tivoli Audio's wire-free Fonico earphones stand out in a crowded field for their quality audio and reasonable price.

Balanced audio performance with rich bass depth and bright highs. Fit is secure enough for exercise. Reasonably priced.

Poor mic intelligibility. Short battery life.

Tivoli Audio's Fonico earphones are a nice surprise. The design is relatively simple, audio performance is solid, and they offer a secure fit you can wear to the gym. Furthermore, the price is right—$130 is totally reasonable for a solid-sounding,...

There’s a surprisingly good entertainer hiding out in these shades ; Users stay engaged and safe, with their ears and eyes open ; Significant potential for interactive augmented-reality applications

Only 3.5 hours of battery life, and recharging requires a proprietary cable ; On an iPhone, the only music apps you can control with voice commands are Apple’s own ; These shades won’t hide in the pocket of your skinny jeans

Powering down the Frames is dirt simple: Just take ‘em off and flip ‘em over, “something people are always doing when they lay sunglasses down on a counter,” said Trevedi. This trick is made possible by an onboard gyroscope, part of a nine-axis...

Bose Frames Review: Headphones Reinvented

Too often, companies trot out seriously interesting tech at conventions and festivals, tech that never hits the shelf. While Frames still have a promise to fulfill with the Bose AR platform, they've already proven a lot to me and sent a message to the...

Ingenius private audio ; Sweet audio quality ; Light, stylish design

Relatively short battery life

More than meets the eye, Bose Frames are sunglasses that act as excellent headphones.
