Garmin Vivosmart 3

Garmin's Vivosmart 3 fitness tracker delivers plenty of accurate, useful health metrics in a ho-hum design.

Comprehensive fitness tracking, including heart rate. Good battery life. Safe for swimming. Comfortable.

Cloudy screen. Hard to read in direct sunlight. Finicky interface. No GPS. No interchangeable bands.

If you're a data nerd or an athlete with a casual interest in stats, the Vivosmart 3 is a solid choice. For $140, you get comprehensive metrics, lots of notification options, and good battery life. The downsides are a cloudy display, a lack of...

Garmin vívosmart 3 review

The vívosmart 3 is a little strange and awkward but should be commended for trying new things. For the right user, this will be a tempting option with unique benefits.

Stress/heart rate variance feature is unique and useful ; Accurate VO2 max estimates ; Advanced features for weight lifters ; Great activity tracking ; Waterproof

No option to sync with GPS on a phone ; Awkward UI ; Uninspiring design ; Not all features work perfectly (weightlifting in particular)

Garmin Vivosmart 3 review: Shots fired at Fitbit, but some don’t hit

Rep counting in a $140 device is great, but that's not the whole story.

Easy-to-wear design ; Good new rep-counting feature ; Auto-recording feature and on-device activity menu ; New estimated VO2 max and fitness age scores

Cannot change out bands ; Heart rate monitor is inconsistent at high BPMs ; Sleep tracking isn't as comprehensive as that of the Alta HR ; Limited on-band music controls

The Vivosmart 3 doesn't feel as well thought out as past Garmin devices. The most thoughtful new feature in the device is rep counting, and I appreciate that Garmin developed it to be as accurate as it is. That alone sets it apart from most other...

Garmin Vivosmart 3 review

Smarter, fitter, younger

Rep counting ; Auto activity tracking ; Smart notifications

No GPS ; Hit and miss wake movement sensing ; Plain design

The Garmin Vivosmart 3 might not look like much but it's packed full of fitness tracking features, from rep counts to a fitness age. It's good value too, but more aimed at gym-goers than runners.

Garmin Vívosmart 3 packs a lot into a slim activity tracker

Garmin's next-generation Vívosmart activity tracker has a built-in heart-rate monitor and new fitness monitoring tools, including VO2 max and all-day stress tracking.

The Garmin Vivosmart 3 is slim, very comfortable to wear, has a built-in heart-rate monitor and is fully waterproof. It's loaded with extra features, including stress-level measurements, VO2 Max readings, and a rep counter. It shows notifications from...

Some of the features are a little difficult to access on the watch; the display isn't as sharp as some competing models' displays.

Although it's not so intuitive to navigate, the slim and comfortable Vivosmart 3 is a very good activity tracker that's waterproof and feature-packed.

Garmin Vivosmart 3 review

If you don't need GPS, this is one of the best all-round fitness bands out there

Good battery life ; Plain and simple design ; Smartwatch-style notifications ; Rich collection of metrics

HR sensor struggles with high-intensity workouts ; Not an always-on screen ; Fiddly, not-that-responsive interface ; Garmin Connect app is dull

It could be more fun and less fiddly, but the Vivosmart 3 is one of the most useful fitness bands around

Garmin's vívosmart 3 finally takes fitness tracking to the gym

Garmin's wearables hit the weight room.

Good for 24/7 wear ; Rep counting for the weight room ; VO2 max and stress control tools

Navigating on wrist is difficult ; Garmin Connect app is messy ; Inaccurate activity tracking

The vívosmart 3 boasts killer features for fitness fans looking to expand their activity tracking, but it doesn't deliver on its potential.
