LG G Watch R review: A full circle

Smartwatches have been around for a long time now, ever so reluctantly trying to infuse the tech spirit into one of the oldest accessories in the history of the world - the time piece. But a wrist watch is meant for more than telling the time - it's...

1.3" Full Circle P-OLED display, 320 x 320 pixels, 246ppi, 33mm screen diameter ; Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 (MSM8226), quad-core 1.2GHz Cortex-A7 CPU, 512MB RAM, 4GB internal storage (3 GB user available) ; 410mAh Li-Ion battery, rated at 2 days of usage...

Leather band is a bit on the cheap side ; The screen is too easy to accidentally turn on ; Android Wear needs more polish, and more functionality ; No choice for casing colors

The watch has evolved over hundreds of years. The electronics manufacturers only have few years of experience designing their smartwatches, so we bet that their smartwatch products will evolve quickly and will be getting better and better as time...

LG G Watch R review: good looks and improved battery are a step in the right direction

I think it's fair to say by now that smartwatches are no longer the "hot new thing." It's an established product category. The paint might still be a lit

Attractive design ; Full circular display ; Improved battery life

Not very unisex ; Strap a bit stiff ; A bit pricey

In the fast-moving world of Android Wear devices, you don't get long at the top it seems. The G Watch R looks just as good as the Moto 360, and with the best battery life of any Wear watch to date, it (just) beats the Motorola in the battle for Android...

LG G Watch R review

With a bright circular screen, a strong battery, and genuinely useful voice controls, the G Watch R is the best Android Wear watch yet. Sadly, it's probably too large and sporty for some.

At the start of 2014, a technically capable smartwatch that looked like a real watch, that was powered by a strong battery and an easy to use, yet powerful operating system, seemed like a far off dream. The G Watch R is the first to truly tick all...

Review: LG G Watch R

LG's first Android Wear device was pretty bland-looking, particularly when compared to the beautiful round Moto 360. Now, LG is back with a round watch...

Much better than the first G Watch. Epic battery life for Android Wear. Zippier processor than its smartwatch competition. Comes with a barometric altimeter for quick elevation checks. OLED display produces nice inky blacks

Almost twice as heavy as the Moto 360. Leather wristband feels like a cardboard strap. Smaller screen makes reading messages more difficult

LG G Watch R

The LG G Watch R is the best Android Wear smartwatch yet, but it's expensive and we still aren't fully sold on the operating system.

Gorgeous design. Improved battery life. Sharp, vivid screen. Nice watch faces.

Expensive. Still bulky. Battery still isn't great. Android Wear still underwhelms.

The G Watch R beats its closest competitor, the Moto 360, to take the Android Wear crown. Just be prepared for a large smartwatch with a very specific design.

Great battery life (for an Android Wear watch) ; Sharp aesthetics (assuming you like manly chronographs) ; Best, brightest display in its category

More expensive than the competition ; Big, chunky, potentially polarizing design ; Dubious step and altitude data

If you're willing to pay a premium, the G Watch R will give you the best display, battery life and overall aesthetics in the rapidly advancing (but still not fully realized) Android Wear market.

LG G Watch R review

Watches are functionally boring. Their primary task of displaying the time has been figured out for centuries, which is why modern wristwatches are celebrated for their complications, the extra...

Handsome OLED display makes everything look better ; Solidly built ; Has a few neat tricks for Android users ; Round watches are objectively better than square ones

Software constantly feels incomplete ; Incompatible with iPhone or other platforms ; Circular face clashes with square Google Now cards ; Battery life better than the Moto 360, but still inadequate

LG G Watch R review: Wins big on style, falls down on software

The LG G Watch R mixes metal, glass and real leather to be the most stylish smartwatch around. Android Wear just isn't up to scratch yet.

With its round design, angular metal frame and selection of gorgeous watch faces, the LG G Watch R is the most attractive Android Wear Smartwatch around. It's battery life isn't bad either.

Final pricing is still unclear. Battery life, while better than Android Wear competitors, still isn't good enough for the average person. The watch's design won't appeal to those who prefer sleek, slim timepieces.

Although its stark design and beautiful face makes this the first smartwatch you might actually be happy to be seen wearing, its Android Wear software has a long way to go before it's anything more than a passing novelty.

LG G Watch white gold

Read our deep review of the Samsung Gear Live and know that the LG G Watch is essentially the same experience under the hood, minus the heart-rate monitor, in a differently designed body. Also know that other Android Wear watches will come in the...

The G Watch shows off Android Wear's impressive voice recognition, Android phone connectedness, and potential for future app support. It has solid build quality, is water- and dust-resistant, and the included magnetic charger is easy to use.

A generic-looking design; terrible battery life; a display that doesn't work in bright sunlight; a strange card-based notification system that doesn't always pop info you want; costs more, lacks the heart-rate monitor, and has a slightly weaker display...

The LG G Watch attempts to bring you the future on your wrist, but with its generic design, unimpressive battery life, and unpolished early software, you're better off waiting to see what else is around the bend.

LG G Watch R Review: best in class

With the LG G Watch R here at the start of the year 2015, we've got very little competition in smartwatches. There are several Android Wear watches made by top-tier brands and a few smart watches made by brands we've not ended up sticking with for...

While Motorola edged out LG and Samsung for the first “round” Android Wear watch on the market, LG returned to the party with a truly round display, bringing heat with a device that’s easily one of the finest wearable smartwatches on the market today....
