LG G Watch review

Like most other smartwatches, the LG G Watch is unattractive when it should be beautiful, unhelpful when it ought to make life easier, and overall, unappealing. However, the smartwatch will evolve and the wearable market will thrive – just as soon as...

The smartwatch may very well be the next great frontier for mobile devices and Android Wear could quite possibly power them. However, after using the G Watch for an extended amount of time, it seems to us that neither the smartwatch, nor the OS have...

Android Wear review: Taking smartwatches in the right direction

When I was a tiny tot, I watched Knight Rider and pretended I was Michael Knight, talking to KITT on my watch. Yet now that there are real-life watches

Performs well ; Swappable wristbands ; Charging cradle is easy to use ; Water-resistant ; Easier to read in sunlight than competition

More expensive than the Gear Live ; Display has lower resolution than competition ; Horrible battery life ; Limited to newer Android devices ; Unattractive design

It's not much of a looker, but the LG G Watch is a respectable Android Wear device. Its battery life is slightly better than the Samsung Gear Live, but it's also more expensive and doesn't offer as nice a display.

Easy to attach wristband ; Convenient charging cradle ; It runs Android Wear

More expensive than slightly better competition ; Impossible to read in sunlight ; Extremely boring industrial design ; Poor battery life

Android Wear is a solid step forward in smartwatch interface design, but LG's implementation is uninspired and costs $30 more than Samsung's very similar hardware.

Review: LG G Watch

Rather than free you from your smartphone dependence, LG's new G Watch ends up being even more of a distraction.

Having Google Now on your wrist is truly useful and convenient. Charging cradle is easy to use. Tracks steps

The hardware is bulky and uncomfortable. Features are limited—for now. Notifications are often delivered with a significant (5-minute-plus) delay. Battery lasts barely a day. The constant vibrating of new notifications is really just the worst thing ever

LG G Watch

The LG G Watch is one of the first ways to get Android Wear, but it costs more and does less than the Samsung Gear Live.

Smart Google Now functionality. Larger text than Gear Live. Works with standard watchbands.

More expensive and fewer features than the Gear Live. Short battery life. No physical buttons. Android Wear lacks a Back button. Few apps available. Bulky.

The G Watch is one of the first devices to run Android Wear, which I had very high hopes for. In essence, Android Wear is about putting smartphone notifications and Google Now functionality on your wrist, and I'll get to how that works shortly. First,...

LG G Watch review: Not the Google watch we need

Android Wear is Google's wrist-worn vision of the future, but LG's smartwatch feels like an early prototype. Read all about it.

The G Watch shows off Android Wear's impressive voice recognition, Android phone connectedness, and potential for future app support. It has solid build quality, is water- and dust-resistant, and the included magnetic charger is easy to use.

A generic-looking design; terrible battery life; a display that doesn't work in bright sunlight; a strange card-based notification system that doesn't always pop info you want; costs more, lacks the heart-rate monitor, and has a slightly weaker display...

The LG G Watch attempts to bring you the future on your wrist, but with its generic design, unimpressive battery life, and unpolished early software, you're better off waiting to see what else is around the bend.

LG G Watch ( white gold)

Read our deep review of the Samsung Gear Live and know that the LG G Watch is essentially the same experience under the hood, minus the heart-rate monitor, in a differently designed body. Also know that other Android Wear watches will come in the...

LG G Watch and Samsung Gear Live review: the first Google watches

I've been looking at my phone a lot less recently. Normally, no buzz in my pocket can go un-checked, no news alert or Snapchat unseen. But thanks to these watches I've been wearing, my phone spends a lot more time in my bag. I can just flick my wrist...

Simple to set up and use ; Swappable bands ; Nice set of watchfaces ; It tells the time

Astonishingly bland design ; Weak battery life ; Screen is impossible to see outside ; No power button

Smartwatches are here to stay, but what are they for?
