Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 review: A bite out of Apple

The Galaxy Watch Active 2 rounds out Samsung's watch lineup well, offering Android users the essential functionalities and price of an Apple Watch Sport. Adding ECG, LTE, and some new third-party app integrations, its biggest competitors are its own...

Comprehensive and expansive exercise tracking ; Stainless-steel version looks watch-like ; Easy-to-read display in all lighting ; Two-day battery with light usage ; You can scroll Twitter on a watch

A more premium smartwatch than Samsung's previous models. With two sizes, LTE and now ECG.

A more premium smartwatch than Samsung's previous models. With two sizes, LTE and now ECG.

Comfortable during workouts and when sleeping. Same VO2 max and trip detection as the Watch 3. Updated running coach works if you can live with the Bixby voice. Touch bezel to navigate between menus. Comes in two sizes, with an LTE option.

Battery life on the smaller 40mm version takes a beating during workouts, especially with the always-on display active. ECG is only available when tied to a Galaxy phone.

A year after release, there's a lot to like about the Galaxy Watch Active 2 especially now that ECG is finally available.

Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 review: ‘good’ is as good as it gets

The best* smartwatch for Android users.

Touch-sensitive bezel ; Offline Spotify ; Decent battery life

Requires too many Samsung phone apps to work ; Bixby ; No good mapping solutions

Samsung’s latest smartwatch, the Galaxy Watch Active 2, is similar to the Galaxy Watch Active that came out earlier this year. But it has the crucial circular control bezel that the prior model lacked, and it’s perhaps the best smartwatch you can get...

Samsung Galaxy Watch Active2

The Samsung Galaxy Active2 smartwatch adds LTE connectivity along with a few useful new features, but it's not a compelling upgrade over the original model.

Digital rotating bezel makes navigation easier. Available in two sizes. LTE connectivity.

Inconsistent battery life and fitness accuracy in testing. Limited iOS compatibility. Thick bezel.

The Samsung Galaxy Watch Active2 is a solid smartwatch, but unless you want LTE connectivity, there's very little reason to buy it instead of saving some money on the original model. And if fitness features and accuracy are more important to you than...

Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 review

The Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 is great fitness-focused Android smartwatch and a worthy Apple Watch rival.

Good battery life ; Automatic workout-tracking ; Offline Spotify storage ; Gorgeous design ; Works with iOS and Android

ECG feature not available at launch ; Sleep-tracking needs some work ; Limited apps

For now, Samsung still lags behind, but at least the company is trying. If you’re looking for an Android smartwatch, the Galaxy Watch Active 2 is the one worth buying.

Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 review: Solid smartwatch, inaccurate fitness watch

While the original Watch Active felt like a first-generation product, the Galaxy Watch Active 2 is a product that proves Samsung is listening to user feedback. The touch-sensitive bezel really helps with the overall experience, and there's now LTE...

Sleek, premium design ; Sharp AMOLED display ; Touch-enabled bezel for quick navigation ; Bluetooth + LTE variants for more flexibility ; ~2 day battery life ; Fantastic sleep tracking

No MST payments with Samsung Pay ; Tizen app ecosystem is still lacking compared to Wear OS ; Heart rate, GPS, and altimeter sensors can be wonky ; Setup process still needs work

Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 review

The new bezel-toting Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 smartwatch loses weight, looks better, and does more than its predecessor.

New touch bezel controls ; LTE option ; Two sizes ; Superb screen

ECG still not active ; Workout drains battery fast ; Few third-party apps

The Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 offers lots with a Super AMOLED display, touch bezel controls, LTE option and various sizes but without that ECG feature active it's selling itself short.

Samsung Galaxy Watch Active2 Review

The Galaxy Active2 is an excellent smartwatch that is one of the first non-iOS watches that can compare to the Apple Watch in terms of looks. The Active2...

If you are a non-Apple user and want a premium smartwatch, the is a great option. It's much more low-profile and discreet than other top-tier Android or Samsung-compatible watches. The has tons of smart features and an impressive set of fitness...

Galaxy Watch Active2 review: Dancing on the grave of Wear OS

There's no denying that Apple makes the best all-around smartwatches, especially if you care about fitness, so Android-compatible watches continue to

Software ; The Watch Active2 is butter-smooth, and apps open quickly. ; Design ; This watch feels premium, with an aluminum (or steel) build and every feature you can jam into a smartwatch.

Price ; The $280-$300 Watch Active2 isn't as much of a fantastic deal as the $200 original model was. ; Touch bezel ; It's not as good as a real rotating bezel.
