Intel SSD DC S3500 Review (480GB): Part 1

Last year Intel introduced its first truly new SSD controller since 2008. Oh how times have changed since then. Intel's original SSD controller design was dual purpose, designed for both consumer and enterprise workloads. Launching first as the brains...

All in all I've been pleased with Intel's work in the enterprise SSD space. Most interesting to me is just how aggressive Intel has been in terms of enterprise SSD pricing. The S3500 shows up at well under $1.50/GB, and consumer drives aren't that far...

Very Reliable! Decent speeds.

Not the cheapest drive. You're probably ok buying a 1TB for half the price for your home desktop, but if you want piece of mind and a top binned drive, go with this one.

Very reliable drive. I've used these in datacenter applications with only 1 failure (out of like 80) and now use them for personal use. 400/400 instead of 500/500 like the consumer Samsungs and Sandisks.

None really. Buy this if you want reliability and don't care about benchmarks.

Installed 6 of these in a server for storage tiering. The performance gain was amazing.

Solid Solid State Drive

A solid business-focused SSD that works exactly as advertised. This is a great successor to the S3700. Highly recommended.

Fast as advertised ; Sufficient packaging to prevent damage in transit ; I ran several drive tests on each one I ordered and found zero manufacturing defects in all of them ; Great value/GB

None come to mind. All drives were recognized and played nice together as expected

Good Drive

Great speed and good size as an OS drive. Using it as a server drive for Win Server 2012 R2 Essentials. No complaints so far

I guess it could be cheaper

Intel S3500 SSD is awesome.

The price isn't horribly high, and for building a PC for a normal user, this is a great choice.

Very fast reads. Boots incredibly fast

Haven't found one yet
