Altec Lansing iM600

Altec Lansing's iM600 speaker system offers a compact design, great sound, video output, auxiliary input, remote control, FM radio, and a rechargeable battery rated at seven hours of continuous playback.

The iM600 does not secure your iPod from falling out; its alarm clock feature only works with the iPod; the rechargeable battery is not removable; and the FM radio band is wider than necessary.

Altec Lansing has been in the iPod speaker market longer than anyone, and it shows. The inclusion of a rechargeable battery and an FM radio makes the iM600 incredibly versatile.

Altec Lansing inMotion iM600 Review

The Altec Lansing iM600 is priced at Rs 7,500. It's a tad costlier than we'd like it to be, but the functionality, flexibility and performance that it offers is hard to come by in such a product, especially in the Indian market.

Great size, very good sound quality, FM radio, SFX enhancement

A little "bass thin"

The alarm clock and FM features make for nice listening options in addition to being a very capable iPod sound dock.

Logitech's mm50 finally gets some competition.

Altec Lansing's newest portable speaker system for the iPod, the iM600, is a complete package: good sound, lots of features, and a reasonable price.

Very good sound quality for the size ; solid FM tuner ; infrared remote control with excellent range ; rechargeable battery ; syncs with computer ; radio tunes from 76.0 to 108.0

Battery life not as good as that of many other portable iPod speakers ; FM radio doesn't have region-specific modes, so you have to tune through all frequencies ; no carrying case or pouch ; doesn't automatically turn off iPod

Like the mm50, the iM600 includes a built-in rechargeable battery which charges in approximately three hours using the included AC adapter. Altec Lansing rates the battery at 7 hours of continuous playback. I actually saw longer playback times than...

Review: Altec Lansing inMotion iM600 Digital Speaker System for iPod

As we've mentioned in past reviews, Altec Lansing basically created the portable iPod speaker category with its inMotion speakers, and through innovative designs has helped to radically expand and improve the category: the tube-like boombox iM7,...

A beautifully designed portable iPod speaker system with excellent value for the price, incorporating an FM radio tuner, universal iPod dock, rechargeable 7-hour battery, and stereo speakers into a slim, fold-open enclosure. Roughly the peer on overall...

Though generally impressive, and sometimes superior, FM radio and iPod sound quality are occasionally slightly below the levels of top peer products ; average users won't mind. Radio uses an odd full-spectrum tuner that's not optimized for any...

We just started having the same problem with our IM600. No sound unless we pull the Nano forward. Going to take ours back

Ipod Docking Stations

I had done a subtantial survey , analysis of literature on the web and spoken to people who had docking stations for Ipod before finally settling on this model. I strongly feel that all of us will get more out of our Ipods if we make use of them in c

Product Specifications

The Altec Lansing iM600 sound system offers stereo sound from dual 2-inch neodymium drivers optimized for high-frequency extension (better highs, in other words). It offers more power and output than any other system in its class and, what's more, it features Altec Lansing engineering innovation called the Stereo Field Expander: SFX for short. SFX makes the speakers sound further apart than they really are, giving the user a heightened stereo effect. The iM600 also features a stereo FM radio and can double as a clock radio when plugged in to an electrical outlet (AC adapter included). It includes rechargeable Li-ion batteries and a wireless remote. And it syncs and charges all dockable iPod models. Whether on the go or on your desk or tabletop, the iM600 resets the expectations for features and performance in a sound solution for the iPod.
