IK Multimedia iLoud review

Not only does the iLoud live up to the promise of its name, it successfully moonlights as a portable music studio.

IK Multimedia’s iLoud is helping to redefine the genre of portable speakers. The unit stumbles here and there in its ambitious quest for affordable versatility, most dramatically outlined by the excessive noise we encountered while connecting via...

IK Multimedia iLoud

The IK Multimedia iLoud is the ideal portable Bluetooth speaker if you're a musician on the go, thanks to its direct guitar input and studio monitor-like sound, but it doesn't fare quite as well for standard music listeners on the wireless front.

Compact design. Superlative sound quality in wired mode. Surprising low-end extension for a small speaker. 1/4-inch input for playing a guitar or singing along to an iOS app.

Can't use it as a portable guitar or vocal amp without an attached iOS device. Bluetooth sound quality trails the competition. No XLR input for microphones. Expensive given its size.

Note that you can't use the iLoud as a hands-free speakerphone. You also can't use it as a portable guitar or vocal amp, despite the 1/4-inch input on the back. That's because the input doesn't send audio directly to the speaker; instead, it only sends...

IK Multimedia iLoud Portable Speaker Preview

The IK Multimedia iLoud isn't just another portable Bluetooth speaker - you can plug in your guitar and iDevice for amplification and audio processing on the fly and on the go. Very cool!

The IK Multimedia iLoud has such a unique feature set that it is hard to compare it to other portable products. We've seen portable speakers that had little more than Bluetooth and a 3.5mm input with similar price points. Of course, we've also seen...

IK Multimedia iLoud review

iLoud is a high-performance, battery-powered portable Bluetooth speaker designed for plugging in a guitar, bass, keyboard or mic and using for practice - or even a spot of busking. Here's our IK Multimedia iLoud review

If you are a musician looking for a high quality portable Bluetooth speaker then the iLoud is a fantastic choice. If you don’t plan to make use of the iRig system then it is still a good speaker but there are comparable smaller speakers which will...

IK Multimedia iLoud

The IK Multimedia iLoud is the ideal portable Bluetooth speaker if you're a musician on the go, thanks to its direct guitar input and studio monitor-like sound, but it doesn't fare quite as well for standard music listeners on the wireless front.

What’s especially interesting about the iLoud is that it’s kind of a do-it-all speaker. Normally, a small PA speaker would be ill-suited for monitoring mixes, while a pair of studio monitors would be awkward to carry to a gig and are usually tuned for...
