The iPad Air is the perfect middle-ground tablet. It's vastly nicer and more capable than the base iPad, but more reasonably priced than the iPad Pro.

It costs a little more this year, but if you're going to keep it for five years, it's the one to get.

Excellent screen ; Compatible with iPad Pro accessories ; Very fast processor

Price increase ; Only step-up storage option is a big jump, $749 for 256GB ; Touch ID on the power button takes some getting used to

The new 2020 iPad Air has the same design as the 11-inch iPad Pro and therefore feels just as nice to use. It also has the very fast A14 Bionic chip, which we are expecting to also be used in upcoming Mac laptops.
