Microsoft Surface Go 2 review: The awkward teenager

The Surface Go 2 makes marginal steps toward being a true iPad competitor, but is it enough to grow out of its awkward teenager phase? Sadly, the answer is no.

Beautiful, bright screen ; Light yet sturdy ; Runs a full version of Windows 10 ; Intel Core m3 offers solid performance

Too expensive ; Tablet usage is still rough ; Battery life is lacking

Surface Go 2 review: Microsoft's tiny PC is only a tiny bit better

The Surface Go 2 offers some slight improvements over the original: A larger screen and a faster CPU option. But the $400 model isn't much different, and all of the upgrades and accessories add up quickly.

Slim and sturdy design ; Versatile as a tablet and laptop ; Great 10.5-inch screen

Faster hardware costs a lot more ; No real improvements to the $400 model ; No bundled keyboard ; Every accessory is extra

Microsoft Surface Go 2 review: don’t push it

It's a small tablet that runs Windows 10.But unless you need exactly that, there are better options.

Bigger screen ; Core M3 processor option ; Runs any Windows app

Very low performance ceiling ; Disappointing battery life ; Keyboard flex

There’s nothing else like the Surface Go 2. But while the idea of a little Windows 10 tablet is appealing, I’m not entirely sure it’s really practical. It’s a tiny niche for a small computer.

Microsoft Surface Go 2 review: A gorgeous, pricey tablet with a decent CPU

Microsoft's Surface Go 2 is a gorgeous Windows tablet that seems best suited for business travelers. It's expensive, however, and the optional keyboard is cramped.

Compact size, light weight ; One of the best webcams in any laptop ; Solid productivity performance ; Bright, high-resolution display

Cramped keyboard makes prolonged typing awkward ; Cheap for a Surface, but not necessarily compared to other tablets ; Battery life is just average

Our review unit included the LTE option, which you can turn on either by inserting your own microSIM into the side-mounted slot, or else enabling the eSIM functionality included in the machine.

Microsoft Surface Go 2 review

Small updates to the Surface Go 2 lead to a big improvement

Vivid 10.5-inch display ; Sleek magnesium design ; Long battery life ; Excellent webcam ; IR camera for Windows Hello login

Last-gen CPUs ; Cramped Type Cover keyboard ; Keyboard and stylus sold separately

With long battery life, thin bezels and decent performance, the Microsoft Surface Go 2 addresses the shortcomings of its predecessor, but don’t expect a miracle from this $399 tablet.

Microsoft Surface Go 2 review

You talked, Microsoft listened, and so here comes the Surface Go 2 tablet to leave you no excuse for not putting a slim slice of Windows 10 in your bag. The headline number is, of course, the $399.99 starting price. The reality, as I discovered, is...

Highly portable and well-constructed ; Kickstand remains a big advantage over rival tablets ; Bigger display and Core m3 CPU are both welcome ; LTE option remains a rare treat

Expensive for the better-processor ; Battery life falls well short of promises ; Gets expensive when you add accessories and options

Microsoft Surface Go 2 review

The Microsoft Surface Go 2's upgrades make it shine with all day battery life.

But as you've seen in this Microsoft Surface Go 2 review, Microsoft's made a solid Surface 2-in-1 for those who don't want to pay Pro prices. And, importantly for everyone working from home right now, it's got a webcam made for today, not a decade ago.

Surface Go 2 Review | Trusted Reviews

The Surface Go 2 is the successor to Microsoft's popular tablet, but are the minor upgrades enough to help chapllenge Apple's iPad?

Slimmer bezels result in a more stylish design;Bright and colourful display;Good battery life ;Superb microphones and webcam

Entry-level model has poor performance;Windows 10 S mode has lots of restrictions ;Not a very touchscreen-friendly UI;Type Cover is expensive and can’t replace keyboard

Microsoft Surface Go 2 review: A portable little Windows package

With more screen real-estate than the original, is the portable, affordable Windows 2-in-1 device better than ever? Check our our review

Smaller bezels than original model ; Great (optional) Type Cover keyboard makes this a mini laptop alternative ; Battery life solid for streaming

Accessories up the price a lot ; Overall battery life not the very best going ; Windows 10 S Mode has its limitations ; Only one USB-C port

A nip and tuck of the original model with more screen real-estate. Although it's not super-powerful, it is super-portable and delivers as much as it ought to from a stylish little package. A great iPad Pro or Chromebook contender in the Windows space.

Microsoft Surface Go 2 review

As a budget device, the Surface Go 2 is one of the most interesting releases from Microsoft in a while. Can it continue the legacy of its predecessor?

Premium design Affordable Can run full Windows 10 Very good battery life

No Touch Cover or stylus included Base model's specs are weak Windows Store still too bare

The Microsoft Surface Go 2 is an excellent affordable Windows 10 tablet that features a premium design found in the company's more expensive devices. It offers a slight bump in performance over the original, but it is still rather underpowered –...
