Pandigital SuperNova review: Pandigital SuperNova

With the Kindle Fire's $200 debut upon us, it's a good time to take stock of the tablet market and ask some questions. Is $200 a low-enough price to turn what might be an unappealing tablet into a product that would sell enough to turn a profit?

The Pandigital SuperNova tablet is light, smooth, and comfortable to hold. It includes a Micro-HDMI slot and two cameras.

The tablet's screen is dim and low-resolution with narrow viewing angles. There's no native access to the Android Market and the build quality feels plasticky and toylike.

Though priced to compete, the Pandigital SuperNova lacks the performance and features to seal the deal.

Pandigital SuperNova

The Pandigital SuperNova will be a fine tablet for Android geeks to hack, but average buyers should look for a tablet with a better screen.

Hacker-friendly. Outputs well to TVs. Lots of features for the price.

Cheap build. Abysmal screen. No Google services.

Multimedia and Conclusions One of Pandigital's pitches for the SuperNova is that it "Internet-enables any TV" through its HDMI port and support for wireless keyboards. I tried it, and it lives up to the promise. The HDMI tether means you can't get too...

"This product has no service. No longer manufactured."

Avoid products from new owner of the Brand Sunglow North America, current onwer of the brand Pandigital

If your unit does not need service, buy a lottery ticket.

Non existent after sale service. Lots of quality and warranty complains. See page customerservicenumbers.com/co-pandigital

"Its very well worth every penny spent"

I would say a definite IPad killer. I would never spend 500 for a tablet. I bought this for more than half its price. Which does EXACTLY the same thing as an Ipad can do. Hello! Wifi settings awesome as it keeps previous setting memorized for easier...

I love all the available apps. I have installed Words with friends, Scanner radio, and much more. Great for Skype or Tango apps.

camera quality is fair, I personally would of enjoyed something better. and maybe the audio can be improved, but it does the job.

"Pass on this one...."

Pass on this one guys if you're waiting on the ICS update. Here's what I got back after emailing their customer service. This device will not be getting the 4.0 update. This tablet sucks to be honest. Save up and get something else. Pandigital Case#...

It's a tablet.

Terrible screen. Viewing angle is horrible.

"Customer No Service"

I was one of the unlucky ones who purchased a Pandigital e-reader that doesn't work. That happens, but what has happened since is ridiculous. One month after trying to to resolve the issue with Pandigital customer service I still have an e-reader that...

I'm sure I'd love it if it worked. It was cheap and has the features I wanted.

It won't download apps or allow me to read e-books. Basically it is defective and Pandigital customer service has been no help despite repeated phone conversations, emails and plenty of promises.

"Definitely worth the price."

Instructions for installing Android Market can be found all over the internet and that is the first thing I did when I took it out of the box. Much to my chagrin, many apps will not download because Android Market says they are not compatible with my...

This is the ONLY tablet in this price range with a 1gHz CPU, Bluetooth, and a capacative screen. It ships with a very stable version of Gingerbread and upgrade to ICS is coming this spring. It has run every app that I've installed on it.

Display is not very good for reading for long periods. If your primary need is an eReader get a Kobo Vox. I was hoping to tether it to my phone's GPS but can't because it does not support Mock Locations.
