LG LE5500 review: LG LE5500

LG LE5500

Accurate color; matte screen performs well in bright rooms; plenty of streaming and interactive features; extensive picture controls; sleek styling with 1.1-inch-deep panel; energy efficient.

Imprecise local dimming causes stray illumination and blooming; reproduces light black levels; darker areas tinged blue; adjustable dejudder doesn't work well; benefits of 120Hz difficult to discern.

Some buyers might appreciate its design and features, but the picture quality of the LG LE5500 lags behind other local dimming LED-based LCDs.

LG 55LE5500 LED Backlit LCD TV Review

The LE5500 has LG's new LED backlight with local dimming option. There is a control to enable on/off functionality of this option. The unit has the Clear Voice II feature for voice/dialog enhancement and LG's full Internet options. While we were not a...

LG 55LE5500 Review – 55-inch LED HDTV

In its quest to strike a balance between researching and integrating new technology for enhanced picture quality and keeping the price within affordable limits, LG has come up with this particular series. While it has some of the latest features...

Energy conservation is also another key issue in this model. The integration of a sensor makes sure that the minimum amount of energy is utilized. The sensor detects the light levels in the room and adjusts the brightness of the images accordingly. In...

LG 55LE5500 TV

The LG 5500 model has above average picture quality, in both high and standard definition, for both dark and light scenes. Testers found the TV’s remote control easy to use and the menu options easy to understand and navigate. The process of...

not quite what I expected

This is a great TV, and Newegg is a pleasure to deal with. Keep in mind that this TV is edge lit, which is the reason it is so thin. You may want to tweak some settings, I know I did.

Very large display (especially going to this from a 22" monitor) ; Very thin ; Bezel color, like most recent LG tvs is basically black unless light hits it right, fits in with any interior style/color ; Picture is great, contrast ratio is average

Local dimming is basically useless since THIS IS AN EDGE-LIT TV. The Newegg description didn't mention that this was edge-lit and I didn't do my homework so it is partially on me. I turned local dimming off because it causes a great deal of bloom and...

Get a samsung

This tv has a major problem with audio that is common to this model. The audio is heard late, meaning you see the lips move and then hear the sound. It is very distracting. I would not recommend this tv because of that. Hopefully they will fix this...

Best bang for the buck out there!

Originally wanted to find a 60"+ LED LCDTV to replace my 61" Samsung DLP that conked out. I wasn't too excited about the new 60" options out there from Samsung, Sharp and Sony, so I decided to go for quality over quantity and buy a 55" instead....

Reduced Glare, All the connections options I could ever, Good Remote Control, Outstanding picture clarity/resolution, Energy Efficient, Setup is as easy as it gets, Great Picture Quality

No 60" model, Not as sexy as Infinia
