LG 65EF9500 OLED TV review

Without a doubt, the LG EF9500 is the most spectacular TV we've ever tested.

I feel like a broken record when I say it, but it’s LG’s fault for continually improving its OLED televisions, series by series, so I must say it again: This is the finest TV LG has made to date, and I would argue, the finest TV you can buy right now.

LG 65EF9500

LG's EF9500 line of flat OLED HDTVs will give you some of the best 4K picture quality you can buy, at a still-very-high price.

Excellent picture quality. Impressively wide color range. Loaded with features.

Expensive. Only three HDMI ports.

Input Lag, Power, and Conclusions Input lag, the amount of time it takes for a display to update after receiving a signal, is less impressive. The 65EF9500 showed a relatively high 57.2-millisecond input lag. This is disappointing, but not surprising;...

LG 65EF9500: The best high-end TV gets flat-out better

LG's OLED TVs produce the best image quality you can buy today, and among all the OLEDs we've tested, we like non-curved EF9500 best. The catch, of course, is its crazy-high price.

The LG EF9500 OLED TV's picture quality is better than that of any LCD or plasma TV we've seen, with perfect black levels and exceedingly bright whites. It's equally adept in bright and dark rooms; showed accurate color, excellent uniformity and solid...

The EF9500 is more expensive than pretty much any other TV of its size. Its light output, video processing and some aspects of screen uniformity aren't quite as impressive as some other TVs.

If you have the money and want 55-inch or 65-inch TV today, you should buy the LG EF9500.

LG 55EF9500

The longer version? Maybe you have the money and like curved TVs. Because, let's face it, flat vs. curved is more of an aesthetic decision than anything else. Fine, get the 65EG9600 curved TV. Maybe you want a 55-inch TV instead. I'm not rich, so I'd...

LG EF9500 TV

The LG OLED EF9500 4k TV has a very sleek design and excellent overall picture quality, especially in a dark room. Motion handling is excellent, and smart features work very well. It isn't perfect, though. Notably, the input lag is higher than average.

Perfect blacks ; Perfect flicker-free motion ; Great color accuracy at an angle

Prone to temporary image retention after displaying static images ; Constantly changing luminosity based on the scene (ABL) ; High input lag ; Poor color uniformity in the shadows

The much anticipated LG EF9500 has recently been released and become available for purchase, and boy was it worth the wait. For a while now, most OLED TV's have been of the curved variety, but for those of you (us included) that have been craving a top...

Stunning image quality thanks to OLED screen. ; Deep, rich blacks and infinite contrast thanks to “perfect black” technology. ; Wide viewing angle thanks to flat screen and OLED technology. ; High quality sound from Harman Kardon. ; Superior 3D image...

Slight image deterioration at high brightness levels. ; “Dim edges” issue. ; Some motion handling issues. ; Slight input lag issues.

The LG 65EF9500 produces superb visuals principally due to its OLED screen, flat as opposed to curved build, and proprietary perfect black technology. It comes with the latest WebOS 2.0 operating system giving the user easy access of the TV’s many...

LG 65EF9500 OLED Ultra HDTV Review

LG's recent price adjustments have made the company's OLED sets more approachable, though hardly cheap in the biggest-screen Ultra HD models. But in today's market, you're unlikely to find a UHDTV that offers better performance than this one. I...

Blacks are truly black; Fine detail; Near-perfect off-axis viewing

Pricey; Annoying calibration menus

LG 65EF9500 4K OLED TV Review: The Best of the Best

With an arresting picture that cannot be beat, the LG 65EF9500's only real competition at the moment is Sony's Bravia X930C set, which costs $2,000 less than the LG. The two TVs offer very different pictures, but both are very impressive. However, for...

Stunning contrast ; Pinpoint brightness ; Excellent off-center viewing ; Attractive design

High-end price ; Fewer smart TV apps than others

A nearly flawless picture that can accommodate forthcoming HDR content, the LG65EF9500 is the best 4K set we've tested so far.

LG 65EF950V

The 65EF950V is a big deal. As well as showing off LG's latest OLED technology, it's also the firm's first mainstream stab at using OLED in a flat rather than curved screen. This removes in an instant one of the biggest hurdles to OLED adoption for...

Extraordinary contrast and 4K detailing ; Many people will prefer its flat screen ; About as pretty as a TV can get

Dimming at the screen's edges ; Issues with sustaining light control at just above black ; Motion handling could be better
