Panasonic Viera TH-PX80U review: Panasonic Viera TH-PX80U

Panasonic Viera TH-PX80U

Relatively inexpensive; produces a deep shade of black; accurate initial color temperature; solid connectivity with three HDMI inputs; handsome, understated exterior.

Color decoding accentuates red; inaccurate primary color of green; ineffective noise reduction.

Panasonic's TH-42PX80U 42-inch plasma sets the picture quality-to-value standard for entry-level plasma TVs.

Panasonic TH-42PX80 review

A superb 42 inch talent from Panasonic

Outstanding pictures ; Good connectivity ; Price

HDMIs not v1.3 ; Colours could be more vibrant ; Occasional orange tone to rich reds

Panasonic’s seemingly unstoppable plasma roll continues apace with this stunner despite LCD’s best efforts

Panasonic TH-42PX80 review

This is the kind of TV people will move house to accommodate – available at a bargain price

An excellent big screen with big-name cachet for under a grand. What else do you want?

Terrific value and a high-quality set – it's not Full HD, but at this price, you won't miss it

Panasonic TH-42PX80

The 42PX80 is also the only TV in this group not to carry a full HD resolution (something plasma finds hard to achieve on relatively small screens). But happily that appears to be the only area where the 42PX80 falls short of its rivals in cold...

Great value, excellent picture quality, good feature count

Red colours can look a touch orange, HDMIs can't handle Deep Color

Panasonic TH42PX80 Review: 42" Viera 24p 100Hz Plasma

Update: The Panasonic TH42PX80 has now been replaced by the Panasonic TX-P37X10 & TX-P42X10.

Excellent black level and shadow detail ; Fluid motion handling with minimal blurring ; Displays 1080p/24 video signal without telecine judder

Native resolution only 1024 x 768 (i.e. not true HD) ; Does not deinterlace film-based material properly ; Exhibits posterisation particularly with poor source

Armed with native 24fps playback and marginally better blacks, the Panasonic TH42PX80 represents an evolutionary rather than revolutionary improvement over its predecessor the PX70 series.

Panasonic TH42PX80

Excellent value plasma now with even more features ..

With some additional features, the TH42PX80 still represents an excellent value plasma package. Full HD models from Panasonic with the latest image processing technology are more accomplished, but the price to performance equation in this case is hard...

Excellent Quality

NewEggs's delivery was so fast that we were stunned. I don't know how NewEgg does it but virtually every order gets here within 2 days or less. We were a bit nervous about ordering a plasma television online but when it arrived, the box and television...

We purchased this television for my 85 year old mother-in-law as a replacement for the aging 25 in. tube television that she's had for years. The picture quality is amazing but the best part is that this television has opened up her world, as she had...

Viera 42 inch

This replaced a 27 inch Panasonic I bought in 1988. I don't have much brand loyalty generally but I do like Panasonic TVs. Both were made in Mexico. Can't wait to see the Steelers whip the Cards on it.

Price on sale, size, ease of use(after reading manual). Color is great as is picture. Delivery was as advertised and no flaws on box when delivered. I have had this since Nov.4th. and should have gotten a new TV set years ago. I have a dvd and a vcr...

Power,395 watts, it had to be moved away from the thermostat as the heat vents out of one spot straight up the back and it gets very warm over the set. I knew they used more power but I can see a clear difference in the spinning of my electric meter...
