Do Not Buy This TV

 

I purchased a Philips 27" Digital TV (27PT8419) in April of 2002. After two weeks the picture went blank. The Good Guys replaced the TV.

Beautiful, clear, bright and sharp picture

Continuous problem that has gone on for 7 months and 8 service calls

Not true HDTV

 

Looks Good, easy to use

HDTV requires a "rectangular" monitor. This only offers a condensed 16x9 on the 4:3 screen.

Not true HDTV

 

This TV looks great in regular TV mode, but the AV4 output port (the only HDTV output) does not work well with a progressive scan DVD player. (Which is promoted as a true HDTV device.)
