Samsung UE85HU7500

It's big. Very big. But is Samsung's 85-inch UHD TV also any good?

Stunning native UHD pictures ; Content-rich Smart TV engine ; Detailed 3D pictures

Slight 3D crosstalk ; Audio delay with Netflix UHD playback ; Care needed with setup to avoid backlight clouding

Sharpness should be set to around its 40 level for native UHD content and slightly lower for upscaled HD. You should make sure all noise-reduction systems are turned off for native UHD and, we’d argue, upscaled UHD, too. Finally we’d recommend using...

A great mid-range, big-screen UHD option

Superb 2D and 3D picture quality ; Content-rich Smart TV system ; Good setup flexibility and feature list

Average sonics ; Unhelpful picture presets ; Input lag slightly high for gamers

Make sure you turn off all noise-reduction systems for UHD and, we’d argue, HD source viewing. Finally, use the provided motion processing on its Clear setting for upscaled content or, potentially, its Standard setting for UHD.

Samsung UE48HU7500

It may only be 48-inches but this telly still shows the benefits of 4K

Outstanding UHD picture quality ; Good price for UHD ; Excellent TV streaming support

Input lag is rather high ; 48-inch screen not as aggressive at showing UHD benefits as large screens ; Picture presets could be better

We sometimes also felt the need to nudge down the UE48HU7500’s sharpness a bit, to stop pictures looking a touch noisy or stressy around the edges of objects. But the crucial thing to finish on is that while a little set-up work is required, the...

Samsung UE55HU7500

Samsung's first flat UHD TV of 2014 is a great alternative to 'The Curve'

Gorgeous UHD and HD pictures ; Spectacularly slim design ; Extensive smart TV content

High input lag could impact gamers ; Smart interface can be a little inscrutable ; Lights turn off during fades to black

Achieving these recommended settings is reasonably straightforward via Samsung’s picture menus, though it might be nice if one day Samsung tried to introduce some sort of picture set up ‘wizard’.

Samsung UE48HU7500 review

Some very minor flaws, but – if you can afford it – this is a fabulous way to go 4K at a smaller screen size

Beautiful 4K No sacrifice at lower resolutions Dynamic, natural pictures

Price No swivel on stand

The ultimate value of 4K is, of course, up to you, the end user – but as to whether 4K resolution is even noticeable at 48in, the answer is a resounding ‘yes’. If the size is right for you, we certainly recommend taking the plunge.

Samsung 65HU7500 review

Putting cost before curves, the 4K Samsung 65HU7500 is a UHD TV bargain

Stunning UHD ; well scaled HD ; Remarkably minimal design ; Features and connectivity

Sloppy SD upscaling ; Pointless image processing ; Somewhat reflective screen
