Sharp AQUOS Crystal review: mid-range brains meet striking looks

The AQUOS Crystal is Sharp's first phone to land in the US in ages, and it's a looker thanks to that amazing screen design. It isn't just handsome, though: The Snapdragon 400 ticking away inside gives it enough oomph to keep up with most people's daily...

Striking bezel-less screen ; Decent performer ; Above-average battery life ; Can be had for a low price

Both cameras are mediocre ; Lots of bloatware ; Exclusive to Sprint and its MVNOs

Sharp and Sprint deserve some major kudos -- not only did they bring a truly interesting smartphone to our shores, but also they're pricing it to move and trying to get it into as many hands as possible. I can't help but wish Sprint imported the...

Sharp Aquos Crystal review: Bezel-less design saves it from obscurity

The Aquos Crystal for Boost Mobile would be an altogether unmemorable phone if it wasn't for its compelling edgeless design.

Boost Mobile's Sharp Aquos Crystal has an affordable price tag, a decent camera, and above all, a bold bezel-less design.

You can't remove the Crystal's battery, and its in-ear audio quality is mediocre with calls sounding hollow and thin.

Don't fret about the unremarkable features -- the Sharp Aquos Crystal is a great buy with a compelling edgeless display that renders it unlike any phone currently on the market.

Sharp Aquos Phone 104SH review

These are tough times for the Japanese technology industry, and Sharp knows that as well as most. However, smartphones are one area where the company has found domestic success of late, albeit in s...

Well-designed hardware ; Skin actually improves stock Android 4.0 ; Good camera ; Excellent performance ; Great screen

Mediocre battery life ; Poor speaker quality ; No NFC ; Unusable front-facing camera

Far and away the best Android device to ever emerge from Japan

Sharp Aquos Quattron 830 review

Last year Sharp made a splash with ads featuring Star Trek's Mr. Sulu--George Takei--comically extolling the virtues of a technology called Quattron. With the memorable "Oh, myyy" tagline, the spots attempted to convince TV buyers that the technology,...

The Sharp LC-LE830U has a picture with relatively accurate color in bright areas, good video processing, and the ability to handle bright rooms well. Its feature set offers excellent help and support options, built-in Wi-Fi, and a remote with three...

Reproduces lighter black levels; poor screen uniformity; dark areas tinged blue; separate interfaces for apps and widgets can be confusing; somewhat generic styling.

Although it's blessed with a solid feature set, the picture quality of Sharp LC-LE830U series falls short of most LED-based LCD TVs we've tested.

Sharp Aquos LC-32D6U

Look at the back panel of the Sharp Aquos LC-32D6U, and you could mistake it for the back of HP's LC3200N--that's because Sharp makes many of the components of the HP model, including the glass. The on-screen menus look identical too, except that the...

Excellent display of HD content

Very wobbly stand

The Aquos comes in a bronze-tone cabinet with a speaker panel that attaches below the screen. The speakers project a pretty good virtual surround-sound mode, but the audio quality is just average. Though the screen tilts and swivels, you need to put in...

Sharp AQUOS 55N7000U Review

The Sharp AQUOS N7000U does not have the best contrast ratio in our group, but it does have good color accuracy and an easy-to-navigate interface with many streaming apps and other smart TV applications. This TV is a decent option if you are looking to...

This TV has decent color saturation and color accuracy.

The display washes out easily from off-axis viewing.

If you don't mind a TV with a slower refresh rate but good color accuracy, this Sharp AQUOS TV is less expensive than others toward the top of our lineup.

Review - Sharp AQUOS LC-32D6U LCD HDTV

Our subject for this review is the Sharp AQUOS LC-32D6U, a 32-inch diagonal LCD HDTV with 1366 x 768 pixels of resolution and a retail price of $2,099.99. It is sold mostly through specialty retail stores with an average street price of about $1,600.

When shopping for an HDTV, your number one concern should be to get the best picture you can for the money. Pricing for LCD and plasma HDTVs is currently in flux due to more production capacity coming online and plenty of competition. It's a buyers'...

Sharp Aquos Crystal review: the best value device on Android? [new video added]

When looking at the promotional material of the Sharp Aquos Crystal , you'd be forgiven for thinking it was a premium device: the unique, bezel-less design gives off a fantastic illusion of quality. But the Aquos Crystal isn't a high-end device,...

Unbeatable value ; Bezel-less design ; Good battery life ; Strong HD display ; Decent rear-camera ; Mostly intuitive gestures

Ugly rear design ; Non-removable battery ; No NFC

Once you get past the fact that the Sharp Aquos Crystal isn’t as high-quality that it appears, and view it for what it is (a low-cost device), you realize how much it has to offer.
