TCL 32S3800

The 720p TCL 32S3800 is an incredibly affordable Roku TV that makes some compromises in picture quality to reach its low price.

Affordable. Roku TV platform has plenty of apps and services.

Inaccurate, undersaturated colors out of the box. 720p resolution misses out on fine details.

If you're looking for a television and you're on a shoestring budget, the TCL 32S3800 might look attractive. tiny price tag hides a disappointing picture, however, especially when the slightly larger, 1080p version of the same model can be found for...

TCL 32S3800 Roku TV, 2015

That's why, if you don't have a Roku TV, we recommend hooking up a streaming device -- like, you know, a Roku -- and ignoring the TV's built-in apps altogether. And that's perfectly fine for your main living-room TV, which probably has a device or ten...

Roku TV delivers the simplest, most comprehensive smart-TV experience on the market. A superb user interface puts its thousands of apps and streaming video on the same plane as regular TV. It's also less expensive than just about any other smart TV.

Competing entry-level TVs, namely Vizio's E series, deliver better image quality for a similar price. Sparse picture controls and no Ethernet port.

Despite its "good enough" picture quality, the TCL Roku TV is one of our favorite entry-level sets, thanks to an awesome smart-TV suite and rock-bottom pricing.

TCL S3800 series (Roku TV, 2015) review

Typical smart TV systems aren't any smarter than 5th graders, but Roku is Jeopardy Champion. Those systems offer limited app selection, complex interfaces, extra features you don't need and almost never get updates. Roku offers all apps you could want...

crappy audio

They cut corners to get to this price. There are no external controls, you have to leave the app and go back to settings to change the volumes, and even at the loudest volume most dialog in movies what unintelligible. No amount of convenience can make...

TCL FAILS AT CUSTOMER SERVICE

I bought this TV and immediately had issues during the "Set-up Phase". I could not connect the TV to my wifi from the very beginning. I wish I had the time to explain the series of events that unfolded and the countless hours of "trouble-shooting"...

TV is OK. Remote is useless

This TV is intended for streaming and not watching TV channels. There are no numbers on the remote. This means that if you are watching channel 2 and you want to change to channel 42, you have to click the up arrow forty times. If you then want to...
