Vizio P-Series TV review: Come for the small tablet, stay for the big picture

Vizio's P-Series TV includes a 6-inch Android tablet remote, but what makes it great is excellent image quality for a moderate price.

The Vizio P-Series has outstanding overall picture quality that competes well against the highest-end TVs. It can handle both high-dynamic-range formats. The remote is a fully functional Android tablet. The Google Cast system offers more apps and...

Using the tablet for settings and streaming apps is often more of a hassle than traditional onscreen menus. No built-in tuner, so you can't watch over-the-air antenna broadcasts unless you attach a separate tuner.

Forget the "free tablet," the real story with Vizio's excellent P-Series TV is top-notch picture quality and future-ready features at an affordable price.

Vizio P65-C1

Vizio's P-series of HDR-compatible 4K televisions delivers solid image quality and includes an Android tablet to serve as a remote.

Excellent contrast. Powerful SmartCast connected platform. Tablet is handy as a remote and media device.

Middling color accuracy. Included tablet isn't powerful enough to be used on its own for much more than movies and reading.

Conclusions Vizio's P-series 4K televisions are technically impressive and loaded with features. The SmartCast platform is a welcome departure from most other connected televisions, and the included tablet puts its various media features right at your...

Vizio P65-C1 display review: Dolby Vision HDR and an Android remote control

The Vizio P-series displays are the first we've seen to offer Dolby Vision HDR. The picture is great, but there's no TV tuner.

Dolby Vision HDR ; Cheaper than the HDR competition ; 6-inch Android tablet/remote

HDR 10 support not yet delivered ; More motion artifacts than other Vizio models we've seen

There can be few complaints about the P65-C1’s picture. It’s around the mean with standard material, but with Dolby Vision HDR? That looks , and I mean Good with a capital G. The few bugs and omissions I’ve mentioned should be addressed shortly.

The Best TV

The Vizio P65-C1, with great contrast, color, dynamic range, and streaming options, is the best LCD TV we've tested this year, and the best for most people.

For the best combination of picture quality and value today, the Vizio P65-C1 is your best bet. If you need a smaller screen or want internal apps, the Sony XBR X930D series has you covered. And the LG E6 OLED TV is expensive, but it offers the best...
