If you are looking to air condition a bedroom or other closed room then this unit should be sufficient. If you are looking to do a small apartment or open room I would look elsewhere as I don't think this unit is actually 8000BTU.

Bought this unit at SAMs club ($299) three (or maybe four) years ago. Has been very good, and we'll be buying another this week to replace a dead window unit. Can't imagine how someone could kill a dog with this. Every ac design has to vent the hot air.
