The only movable part is the screw, so if your encasement is wider than the gap (between the arms), then installation is impossible. I attempted to install these clamps onto (metal) windows, in 2 separate buildings, but failed.

I don't have any problem with the remote. While it could be made thinner, it's still fine. It's 2" wide, 4" long, and 1" high including the height of the buttons.
