Samsung BD-H6500 review: Fastest Blu-ray player we've ever seen

In 2014, after selling millions of iPads, Apple found that sales are starting to peter out . One reason, according to CEO Tim Cook, is that people don't tend to upgrade their tablets as often as other electronics.

The Samsung BD-H6500 is the fastest Blu-ray player we've tested, which translates to less waiting while watching disks or when booting up services like Netflix. The player offers a wide range of streaming content in addition to onboard wireless access....

The player's 4K upscaling adds cost but is of little practical benefit, plus the player doesn't act as a multiroom client.

The Samsung BD-H6500 is simply the quickest Blu-ray player we've seen, delivering lightning-fast access to your movies on disc and streaming services like Netflix.

Samsung BD-H6500 review

The Samsung BD-H6500 is a top-rated Blu-Ray player with 3D support and UHD/4K upscaling. Smart TV functionality is included, plus Wi-Fi and ethernet connectivity, and 7.1 channel optical audio output. It's outstanding value at just over £100.

The BD-H6500 is probably the outstanding model in Samsung's 2014 range. It delivers high-end features - UHD upscaling, 3D playback, 7.1 channel audio, and fully-featured Smart TV - for just over £100, making it outstanding value and a good investment...

Samsung BD-H6500 Blu-ray Disc Player Review

The Samsung BD-H6500 is a great example of how much Blu-ray Disc players have evolved since their introduction. In addition to spinning discs, the BD-H6500 can access content from the internet, your PC, USB flash drives, and, in most cases, your...

Samsung BD-H6500 review

Not the best in class, but those features make it competitive

Sharp, punchy picture Excellent app offering Good upscaling

Hard, insubstantial sound

It’s almost full marks for the Samsung BD-H6500. It scores highly for features and usability, but its performance isn’t quite class leading. It’s still impressive, though. MORE: Best Buys: Blu-ray players

Samsung strikes gold with its revamped budget Blu-ray spinner

Excellent features, particularly online content ; Fast operation and attractive onscreen presentation ; Dazzling hi-def pictures

Lightweight build quality ; Not a massive evolution from the F6500

Elsewhere you’ll find screen mirroring, which lets you view your Android phone or tablet on a TV over a network, 3D playback, 4K (UHD) upscaling, a DTS Neo:6 mode and support for HD audio formats. The Tools menu offers a range of picture presets...

Samsung BD-H6500

Perfect 2D & 3D Blu-ray playback, Brilliant scaling of DVDs, Tons of video apps, Quick to load discs, Fantastic price

Limited connections, Uninspiring design

The BD-H6500 is an inoffensive black box with a rounded-out front-right corner, which has a set of basic controls moulded in to a dial atop it. There’s a large and very legible display panel just to the right of a tray loading disc mechanism, which is...

"Unreliable at best"
