Toshiba BDX2700: A Connected Blu-ray Player, at an Appealing Price

Nothing really stands out about the Toshiba BDX2700. The images it produces from Blu-ray discs look very good on an HDTV. Its Internet options include regular favorite Netflix and the broad selection of Vudu Apps. The $180 estimated street price (as of...

Low price ; Produces pleasing Blu-ray images ; Very good Internet and multimedia selections

Disappointing DVD images ; USB port in back ; No YouTube

The Toshiba BDX2700 is a reasonably good Blu-ray player that sells for a reasonably good price; its disappointing DVD upconversion is its only serious drawback.

Toshiba BDX2700

While its spec sheet looked promising, the BDX2700 was a little disappointing once we got out hands on it. Its design is a far cry from the sleek and slender exteriors offered by Samsung and Sony, and it also wound up being the slowest Blu-ray player...

Excellent Blu-ray image quality; Netflix, Vudu, Pandora, and Blockbuster streaming; built-in Wi-Fi; 7.1 analog outputs

Slowest operational speed we've tested this year; competing players offer more streaming media services; not DLNA-compliant; somewhat bulky design

The Toshiba BDX2700 is currently a little cheaper than other midrange Blu-ray players and includes 7.1 analog outputs, but otherwise there's little reason to favor it over faster models with better features.

Toshiba BDX2700

We'll admit, the user reviews make us a little nervous to purchase the Toshiba BDX2700 Blu-ray player. However, on paper, it is very comparable to the other players in our Blu-ray player reviews and if anything does go wrong in the first few weeks,...

"Stay AWAY... TOSHIBA lies and refuses to back products."

I also bought a toshiba product believing they were a reputable brand. It was a top of the line dvd blue ray player to be specific and boy was I wrong. The DVD Player barely work 5 months then started freezing and randomly shutting off. You had to...

Great features to bad they don't last.

Craps out in few months

Easily better than the reviews state

Overal this is a great blu-ray player at an amazing price. The only two things I have not used are the Blockbuster and Vudu players. If they're anything like the Netflix or Pandora then I'm sure they're very nice. Bottom line, highly recommended...

Excellent picture quality. Great Netflix and Pandora interfaces and controls. Wi-Fi is flawless and connects within seconds of turning on the unit. The sound quality is amazing for true HD sound. Regza-link to a Toshiba TV works perfect as well

Yes, it is a little slow loading discs but not SO much slower than comparable models (within 10-15 seconds). Lack of internal memory is a con but there's a USB 2.0 port on the back and USB drives are fairly inexpensive anyway

"Only works for a week"

the first unit worked for about 5 movies over 2 weeks and then said it couln't connect to our wi-fi and yet after we did all the unplugging and re-plugging and connecting it still wouldn't work yet the wi-fi worked fine. So we exchanged for a new unit....

Great when it works

doesn't work for long

Not perfect but much better than what you have read!

I originally decided to purchase the LG BD570 instead of this unit due to a few poor reviews and many quality red flags from other reviews. I was not at all impressed with the LG. The tray was uncomfortable to load discs into and the DVD picture...

Nice looking. Great picture for Blu-Ray and DVD

Reliability is the biggest concern
