Toshiba BDX2000 Blu-ray player review

Like a Phoenix from the flames, Toshiba has at last put pride where it belongs and jumped on the Blu-ray bandwagon and we're glad it did.

Detail from Blu-ray, DVD upscaling, colours, music

No Wi-Fi connectivity, no built-in memory, expensive

Late to the Blu-ray market it may be, but this deck treats both Blu-ray and DVD discs with rare skill. For Toshiba, it's just a shame that a lot of other manufacturers got there first and are now starting to introduce features that the BDX2000 lacks

Toshiba BDX2000 review

The Toshiba BDX2000 is a pretty decent Blu-ray player at an affordable price. We wouldn't have expected the company to put its heart into supporting the format that crushed HD DVD, but it's done an impressive job with this machine. We'd love it even...

Attractive styling ; Excellent picture quality ; Decent menu speed ; Full support for profile 2.0

Slow disc-load speed ; Hideous remote control ; Sluggish handling of BD-Live content ; No in-built storage

Conclusion The Toshiba BDX2000 is a good player at a reasonable price. Sony's likeable and similarly priced BDP-S360 is a slightly better player, but doesn't come with the LoveFilm deal that makes the BDX2000 such good value for money. We prefer the...

Toshiba BDX2000 review

At first glance, the slim Toshiba BDX2000 - the company's first Blu-ray Disc player - seems unexceptional, with limited extras and a boxy remote. But when you pop a Blu-ray disc into it and see what the BDX2000 can do, you'll realise what a bargain it is.

Great image quality saves the Toshiba BDX2000 from being just another mundane, low-cost Blu-ray player.

Toshiba BDX2000

Toshiba's first Blu-ray player is neither a runaway success nor a shocking failure - it simply fails to excite.

Although it’s a little slow in operation, and missing out on features like network media playback, the BDX2000 does have price in its favour. Even so, competition is getting tougher at this end of the market. If you value options like audio test tones...

Toshiba BDX2000 Blu-Ray Player

Toshiba is rightly proud of its flagship Blu-Ray player. The visual impact of the device is one of its key assets, as the front panel is completely covered by a flip-down plastic section through which you can see the basic information relating to run...

Toshiba BDX2000KY Blu-ray player

So Toshiba finally bites the Blu-ray bullet two years after its own HD format bit the dust. Such patience it seems is a virtue.

Excellent 1080p/24 Blu-ray picture quality ; Full HD audio decoding, even with secondary audio ; Excellent value for money

Poor PAL DVD picture quality ; Deinterlacing errors with 1080i/50 film source material ; Clunky firmware upgrade Procedure

Toshiba’s original claim to HD fame was its development of and support for the HD DVD format, which was a rival to Blu-ray. It actually beat Blu-ray to market, with the first HD DVD models launching in Australia in late 2006. Yet less than 18 months...

Absolutely the Steal of the year!!

This is a great player!! I know that you will enjoy this if you get it. You will not be disappointed.

The Picture Quality is amazing, user Interface, any John Doe can hook this up and be watching a great picture in about 15 min

The only one that i can think of is that it is not WI-FI, But for the price i did not expect it

For only $70, how can you go wrong??

I paid only $70 for this player and it plays blu rays beautifully which is all I want. There are a lot of people who could care less about Netflix streaming or Wifi. Why would I pay almost double for a couple features I will never use?

Load time is fine, picture quality is excellent with both DVD and Blu Ray discs

Remote is not very good and lacks a lot of options. I have a programmable remote so I wouldn't use this remote anyways

Not a bad deal if you can get it as cheap as I did.

Good deal if you like Toshiba or want their product( to match your Toshiba tv,etc).I might look into their 2700 model for its wi-fi streaming..

Was affordable Easy to hook up and use.No problems so far and I have 2

Can be annoyingly slow to load at times and if you stop the disk sometimes it starts back over at the beginning.Have become dissatisfied with Toshiba due to the fact they would not help with an issue that I have with a newer Player of theirs

Not the best, but worth for the price.

Not the best, but worth for the price.

Excellent picture quality when playing regular DVD via HDMI, decent design style, updatable via an Ethernet

Slow loading for some particular titles
