Contour+2 Review

Whether your next great adventure is climbing mountains, riding jet skis, or even skydiving, the Contour+2 captures the fun. Priced at $399.99, the Contour+2 is comparable to the highest-end GoPro HERO3, but offers unique features in a sleeker,...

Sturdy, well-built hardware with virtually limitless options for camera mounting. Great HD picture quality in proper light. Free iPhone app controls camera settings while on the go. Mac app is free, and plots your video’s GPS coordinates on a Google map

Short battery life. Pro QuickTime extensions may cause Mac app to crash when launched. While the hardware is great, the Mac software is just OK

The Contour+2 is a compact solution for capturing great-looking sports footage in HD, but its OS X (and to a lesser degree, iOS) software don’t quite live up to the excellent hardware.

This excellent wearable action camera records high-quality video, sports a rotating lens and lets you use your smartphone as a viewfinder.

Lens rotates; iOS app connects via Bluetooth; Connects with Mod Live goggles

Short battery life; Low photo resolution

Click to EnlargeOf the wearable cameras we've tested, the Contour+2 is the most well-rounded. While it doesn't have the best battery life or video quality, the Contour+2 is more than good enough in both respects. Moreover, it has a versatile and sleek...

Contour+2 review: Contour+2

Contour's line-topping Contour+ HD sports camera would have been one of our favorites, but we hesitated to recommend it because Contour's own less-expensive cameras, the ContourGPS and the ContourRoam , were cheaper, more rugged, and easier to use.

The Contour+2 captures crisp, HD video. The new Instant On-Record slider greatly increases simplicity. Bluetooth allows app connectivity, GPS allows location data to be embedded in video, and the waterproof case is now included.

Even with the new lower price, the Contour+2 is more expensive than the GoPro HD Hero2.

The Contour+2 combines the best features of the entire Contour camera line in one simple, powerful flagship model.

Contour+2 review: the best consumer helmet camera on the market

More InfoContour+ helmet cam goes official, bringing 1080p video with wider viewing angleContour+ vs. GoPro HD Hero2: through the desert and into

Great, discreet design ; Rotatable lens ; Wireless connectivity ; Quick, accurate GPS

Middling audio quality ; Still pricey

Contour's latest POV camera is the one we'd choose for helmet-required action sports.

Incredibly sturdy. Rotating wide-angle lens. Excellent GPS function

Too expensive. Less-than-stellar video quality. Requires an iPhone or iPod Touch to change video settings. Remote viewfinder isn't very useful

It has a cool GPS feature, but the Contour+'s $500 price is too high for a helmet camera with only decent video quality. You'd be hard-pressed to find a better model among the sparse selection of these specialized cameras, though.

Contour Contour+Camcorder Review

The Contour+ is not an ordinary camcorder. It's a compact, rugged, mountable camcorder that can record HD video at a variety of different resolutions, or take continuous 5-megapixel still photos. There's no LCD or visual display, so to adjust controls...

Contour Contour+2

This year's flagship Contour+2 is better and cheaper than its predecessor.

The ContourROAM is a POV action camera that competes head-to-head with the GoPro line. The ContourROAM is the $200 entry-level model of Contour's POV camera lineup.

Contour Contour+

An tough, no—frills model with a super wide angle lens and mountable design

Tough, mountable design; Strong colors even in low light

No display; No controls

The Contour+ is such a unique camcorder that you probably already know—without our help—whether its the right model for you. There aren’t many camcorders out there that have an ultra-wide-angle lens, a durable design, and a mountable body like the...

Contour ROAM video camera

When we looked at the Contour+ video camera we were impressed with its video quality and size, but of more value was its miniature construction -- it ...

Low price ; Good image quality ; Waterproof to 1 metre

Alignment is a guessing game ; Changing exposure settings requires a computer

Contour's cheapest camera is also its most versatile -- it's waterproof to a depth of one metre. This should make it great for all-weather sports (think surfing, skiing, whitewater rafting) where other Contour models or competing sports cameras require...
