Samsung HMX-QF20

Camcorder manufacturers may have dropped standard-definition models from their lineups, but the components live on in entry-level high-definition models such as the Samsung HMX-Q20 and the Wi-fi-enabled HMX-QF20, reviewed here.

The Samsung HMX-QF20 is a small, lightweight, shoot-and-share camcorder with a 20x optical zoom and built-in Wi-Fi for backups and direct uploads to YouTube, Facebook, and Picasa.

The QF20's video isn't really HD-quality and it's only good for viewing at small sizes. HD recordings cannot be uploaded wirelessly and Wi-Fi back up is Windows only.

For good-enough video for Web sharing and a 20x zoom lens, the Samsung HMX-QF20 gets the job done.

Samsung's HMX-QF20 falls into the long line of nearly-pocketable camcorders making a play for the FlipCam–sized whole left in the market. Not quite a true pocket cam, not quite a full-sized camcorder, the $300 cam pairs decent image and video quality...

Wireless sharing and backup ; Lots of built-in features and adjustments ; Easy-to-navigate UI ; Manual focus is a nice feature

Still image quality is poor ; Surprisingly feels too small ; Wireless sharing is clunky ; LCD can’t handle direct sun ; Hard-to-control zoom

Without top-notch convenience or some pretty impressive imaging results, potential consumers may find the HMX-QF20 juggling too many pros and cons to make a worthwhile purchase.

very easy to use, easy to just pick up and go

very compact, great picture quality, nice video features the best part was we took it out, charged it and began using it...super easy

my 13 year old was able to use it right away, the size is perfect for a busy lifestyle
