Nokia 5220 XpressMusic review: Funky-shape jukebox

Nokia 5220 XpressMusic is set to play for it all in the mass market segment. A bunch of music niceties, slim waistline and novel design are crowned with the XpressMusic logo, and that's enough of a commitment to cool sonic experience...

10.6 mm slim and lightweight body ; Exciting asymmetrical design ; Tri-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE support ; S40 5th edition user interface, FP1 ; 2" 256K-color display of QVGA resolution ; Ambient light sensor ; Hot-swappable microSD card slot, 512MB included...

Cheapo plastic build ; Tri-band only ; No 3G support ; No smart dialing ; No multi-tasking ; No office document viewer ; QCIF video recording (only good for MMS)

If it's megapixel count and ample touchscreen that gets you excited, you are bound to look elsewhere. But the Nokia 5220 offers a truly music-rich experience at an attractive price tag. If that's your game, hop on and let's see how cool is saying no to...

Nokia 5220 XpressMusic

Nokia introduced a new music-enabled mobile phone as addition to its XpressMusic range. Additional features of the Nokia 5220 XpressMusic include up to 24 hours playback time, dedicated XpressMusic keys and a 3.5mm audio jack.

Excellent speaker quality; free music; user-friendly; stylish; relatively cheap

No 3G; lacks latest features; overly simplistic in some areas; mediocre camera; unimpressive voice recorder

Also, the phone is relatively inexpensive. In short, it raises the roof but does not break the bank and is simplistically stylish.

Nokia 5220 XpressMusic review

A great quality music mobile for a bargain price

Good quality music player ; Dedicated music player controls on outside ; 3.5mm headphone socket ; 512MB MicroSD card supplied ; Unusual asymmetrical slimline design ; 2-megapixel camera ; FM radio ; Decent set of applications included

No 3G ; No Wi-Fi ; Camera is average quality with no flash or autofocus ; No GPS ; Limited onboard storage ; No smartphone OS

Capable of a fine audio performance, Nokia's 5220 XpressMusic strikes the right notes for a budget music mobile

Nokia 5220 XpressMusic

Nokia's XpressMusic phones take aim right at Sony Ericsson's Walkman handsets, giving an offering that puts music at the core of the phone and gives you nifty features like dedicated controls, which we find here, without having to dive into menus. The...

Light, interesting design, music buttons

Out of date from a hardware point of view

Overall the Nokia XpressMusic 5220 is a satisfying music phone. It does all the things that Nokia have been doing for years. This phone doesn't really step out of its music breeding though, it doesn't excite from a connectivity point of view, it...
