Nokia N95 8GB review: Return of the king

About a year ago Nokia released a tech-freak's dream of a handset offering a mouthwatering horde of features in a fairly compact size. The omnipresent N95 spawned a successor and now the question is how much better can it get. Nokia N95 8GB sure has...

2.8" 16M color QVGA display ; 5 megapixel camera with auto focus and Carl Zeiss optics ; Massive storage capacity and increased RAM ; Wi-Fi with UPnP technology ; Built-in GPS receiver and A-GPS functionality ; Nokia maps application covering over 100...

No camera lens protector ; No RDS system for the FM radio ; Below average GPS performance, no 3rd party apps support ; Extra charges for voice assisted navigation ; Cannot edit office documents ; No card slot ; Doesn't charge when connected to USB

Only recently did we notice the N95-1 label on our original Nokia N95 box. It seems that Nokia have had plans for expanding the N95 family even in those early days. Now in order to clear up terms here, we are just making a remark that currently the 8GB...

Nokia N95 8GB

Nokia's latest powerhouse handset adds onboard storage.

Slick, dual-slider design. 8GB of internal storage and 128MB of RAM. 3G and Wi-Fi support. Built-in GPS. Hardware 3D graphics acceleration.

No QWERTY keyboard. No memory card slot. Camera and video functions slow down the phone, which is otherwise fast.

Nokia N95 (U.S.)

For its U.S. version of the N95, Nokia saddles the superior European version with some notable flaws, but it's still a great smartphone experience.

Lightweight, dual-slider design. Brilliant screen. HSDPA-capable. Built-in Wi-Fi and GPS. Plays new N-Gage games.

No QWERTY keyboard. Slight earpiece whine. Poor battery life on AT&T's 3G HSDPA network. Unresponsive camera.

Review: Nokia N95 Phone

“ The N95 is one of the most feature-packed phones money can buy. Its biggest asset is a 5-megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics for...

Huge 2.6-inch screen. Records 30-fps video. Extras galore: 3.5-mm headphone jack, TV output connector, infrared port, Wi-Fi, GPS, FM radio, and 1-GB memory card

Fattest in this bunch (0.8 inch). Lags when you open media player. Standby mode saps battery charge. And you thought the first iPhones were expensive

Review: Nokia N95

Nobody was more psyched about the N95 than I was. After all, this was to be the phone to end all phones: A 5-megapixel camera...

Surprisingly lightweight. Ability to rotate screen orientation makes small-screen Web browsing much less annoying. Comes with a 2-gig micro SD card. Hard buttons for media player, camera, and gallery free up soft-key shortcuts. 3.5-milimeter-headphone...

Photos slightly grainy at full-res. Dual slide means that, regardless of the way you position it in your pocket, random numbers regularly get dialed by accident. Insufficient memory to support multiple applications or complicated websites (like, for...

Nokia Nokia N95

Can one device really do it all? I've had my doubts, but Nokia's new N95 might yet sway me. We'll update this review with a final rating once our battery testing is complete, but in my early look at this multipurpose phone, I found a promising device...

Versatile, easy-slider design ; Integrated 5 megapixel camera

Sky-high price

With GPS, Wi-Fi, music, video, and a 5-megapixel camera, the Nokia N95 does it all.

Nokia N95

The N95 is so loaded with high-end features that it sometimes seems as if it dropped out of a time warp from the future. Perhaps its astronomically high $749 price won't be worth much in future dollars, but right now, that is a lot to pay for a cell...

Most powerful multimedia phone in the USA. Five-megapixel camera. Luxurious features

No 3G support. All those features really drain the battery. Individual features aren't as good as best-of-breed single-purpose products, but c'mon

The future called, and it left its cell phone behind.

Nokia N95 8GB

The Nokia 8GB N95 is a lot of things: a world phone, a 5-megapixel camera, a music player, a connection workhorse (IR, USB, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth), a portable video player, a GPS device, a gaming console for N-Gage games, a mass storage device, and a...
