Toshiba Qosmio DX730 review

The Toshiba Qosmio DX730 won't win any beauty awards, but it's no dog either. Its bright, Full HD screen, Blu-ray drive and decent performance make it a good option for movie-lovers.

Vivid 1080p screen ; Blu-ray drive ; Decent performance

A little pricey ; Touchscreen isn't particularly accurate

The Toshiba Qosmio DX730 isn't the prettiest computer you could buy, but it's not exactly ugly and with a bright, Full HD screen, decent components and a Blu-ray drive, it could make an excellent second PC for a family living room or as a main media...

Toshiba Qosmio DX730

Toshiba enters the all-in-one PC market with a versatile 23in machine.

Reasonably attractive ; Generous connectivity ; Good screen and audio ; Affordable low-end models

High-end models more expensive than superior competitors ; Fails to excel in any regard ; Average-at-best included peripherals ; Too much glossy

Toshiba Qosmio DX730

Unless you want the HDMI in, the Toshiba Qosmio DX730 simply doesn't do well enough for the asking price. HP's Touchsmart 520 is a better quality product — and AU$400 cheaper.

Dual HDMI input

Limited HDMI functionality ; Poor accessories ; Touchscreen + media PC concept doesn't work terribly well ; The usual ergonomic issues of having a vertical touchscreen

Unless you want the HDMI in, the Toshiba Qosmio DX730 simply doesn't do well enough for the asking price. HP's Touchsmart 520 has better quality accessories, nicer screen, better sound and more powerful processor — and is AU$400 cheaper. If you need a...

In terms of features here there is little to complain about here. The Toshiba Qosmio DX730 is a well stocked bit of kit - the main drawback being that to get the very most from it, the highest specced model will set you back one quid under a grand. And...

Toshiba Qosmio DX730 PC TV combo

Review

For a desktop PC costing £1000 should a discrete graphics processor, and possibly a quad-core i5 would not seem out of place, but no doubt the additional cost of the touchscreen has seen corners cut here. Unlike Toshiba's Qosmio branded latops, this...

The Business

I needed a new computer to replace my Dell, which had served me very well for just a few too many years, and needed something I could rely on every day without fail as I run a support website. A new one would also need to be an all in one because of...
