Panasonic Lumix DMC-GX85

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-GX85 is a compact mirrorless camera with quick autofocus, strong image quality, and 4K video capture.

Compact. Built-in EVF and flash. Tilting touch screen. Quick autofocus. 8.6fps continuous shooting with large buffer. 30fps 4K Photo mode. 5-axis image stabilization. 4K video capture. Wi-Fi.

4K video is slightly cropped. Omits weather sealing. Shooting rate slows during Raw or AF-C capture. Screen doesn't face forward for selfies. No mic input.

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-GX85 is an attractive option for photographers in want of a compact mirrorless camera. It focuses and shoots quickly, records video at 4K resolution, and offers a bevy of controls. Add Wi-Fi, an in-body EVF and flash, and a...

Panasonic Lumix DMC-GX85 (black)

With an electronic viewfinder, fast continuous shooting and 4K video, it fits right into that camera's demographic: an enthusiast-friendly model with a feature set that should also appeal to families and travelers at a reasonable price.

It delivers excellent photo and video for a Micro Four Thirds camera, especially at its price, plus a great feature set and fast performance.

The continuous autofocus occasionally fails to lock at all in burst mode, and the battery life is poor.

LIke other Panasonic models before it, the Lumix GX85/GX80 packs a lot for its price, including great photos, 4K video and speed.

Panasonic Lumix GX85 (GX80) review

There's a lot in the Lumix GX85 to appeal to family photographers and first-time mirrorless buyers as an alternative to a decent (as opposed to cheap) first dSLR like the Nikon D5500 . It's got a great feature set, very good photo and video quality for...

Panasonic Lumix DMC-GX85

Micro Four Thirds cameras offer speed and performance similar to DSLRs in bodies and lenses that are much more compact. The latest Panasonic mirrorless ILC -- the LUMIX DMC-GX85 -- has the potential to be one of this year's best M4/3s offerings, thanks...

Panasonic Lumix DMC-GX80 Review

Panasonic has introduced a new compact system camera which sits in between the GX (single digit) and the GF ranges in terms of who it is aimed at. The Panasonic Lumix DMC-GX80 (also known as the Panasonic Lumix DMC-GX85) features a 16 million pixel...

When the GX8 was announced, many people missed the smaller body size of the GX7 so its nice to see Panasonic bringing that kind of style back for its new addition.

Panasonic GX85 Review

The Panasonic GX85 comes close to offering the ideal blend of image quality, functionality, speed and size in our book, packing a ton of advanced features and performance into a compact, well-built body, all at a fair price. The camera produces crisp...

Excellent build-quality; Good ergonomics for its size; Built-in 5-axis Dual IS, Built-in EVF; Tilting LCD touchscreen monitor; Competitive still image quality; Excellent 4K video quality; Fast autofocus and burst modes; Generous buffers; Tons of...

EVF could be better; Sluggish RAW and RAW+JPEG buffer clearing; No external mic and headphone jacks; Slow x-sync speed; Mediocre battery life
