Don't waste the extra money!

Decent system but has some problems for people who have to use antenna's. You have to turn your antenna to get your stations on tv but with this unit you can not just add the channels if they are digitial. You have to rescan for digitial and in the...

Can't think of any

Each time you move antenna you have to rescan the unit then you lose all previously saved channels

Worse mistake I have ever made on line

Buy something else I ended up with a LG RC897T. Much better unit.

Looks good

Wouldn't scan any OTA channels. Wrong remote. "none in system" $35 shipping, $38 return shipping. Sony said on RMA "changed his mind" I'll never buy another Sony product

Problems when trying to copy my old VHS tapes to DVD, not what I had expected

First off, dont think you can connect this Sony DVD/VHS recorder the same way you could as with your old VHS recorder using the RF out to TV. The antenna in/out will work but the DVD and VHS output will not.

Good for playing/recording good quality VHS tapes, playing DVD's

Poor when coping VHS tapes with tracking problems or recording live "on-air" to DVD

OK unit, but MAJOR DEFECT right out of the box.

I purchased this DVD recorder/VCR NEW, not open box or refurb, and was DEFECTIVE. The signal processor for the DVD player was defective. ANY DVD, whether burned by me or a purchased movie, showed "digital artifacts" in the picture--black dots, yellow...

Tuner, functions, upconversion

mine was DEFECTIVE (DVD signal processor), cannot record to DVD-RAMs, coax RF output does not seem functional

Satisfied with product

Satisfied with product

I purchased this DVD recorder in Dec. 2008. Waited until now to do the review because I wanted to test all functions over time. We use this recorder with a regular TV, hooked directly to cable (no boxes, no high-def). The main purpose of buying the...

Disappointed with the Sony RDR-VXD655

I've had this unit now for almost a year now, and here's what I have found: -- It's very easy to dub VHS tapes to DVD, and end result is good. -- Playing DVDs or CDs works fine. -- As others have mentioned, the internal clock loses a few minutes a...

Item damaged in shipping, so cannot review

This item would have been a great item to have, but unfortunately it was damaged in shipping and the seller had to file a claim for damage and we were refunded our money. Thankfully, amazon has a money back guarantee for issues such as these.

Piece of junk if you want to record tv/play DVDs

Piece of junk if you want to record tv/play DVDs

Worked great for about 4 months. Then, it refused to finalize recorded discs saying they could not be played or recorded. Then, timer recordings failed, shut itself off in the middle of the 2 hour program. Then, recordings using the record button...
