Garmin zumo 450 review

The Garmin zumo 450 GPS for motorcycles follows the successful introduction of the zumo 550 last year. The 450 has all of its features except Bluetooth, the ability to speak street names and XM Satellite compatibility.

Good but cant count on it.

I have found garmin to be a fantastic company with good customer support and solid products. I feel this model however suffers from the "it should have never been released to the public" syndrome with these serious problems. The 550 looks the same so I...

solid construction, built like a tank with good motorcycle mount hardware. I found the software to be very accurate

I own 3 garmins and this ones by far the most annoying. The product freezes on startup requiring a battery removal for an hr+ (via allen wrench I keep taped to this turkey) and often a software rebuild via laptop. A laptop when touring

Good but not great

Unit dies occasionally when power is turned off and the only way to get it back up is to remove and reinstall the battery so you will need to carry a 2mm hex wrench at all times to fix it. There is quite a bit of lag time of actual position vs. Zumo...

perfect for motorcycle users, easy to view and change settings while in use. waterproof. motorcycle mount (1) included ; Speed and mileage are accurate ; easy to remove from bike once u remove the cheap security screw and replace with a regular screw

power issues are still unresolved with Garmin(will not powerup after being turned off sometimes) ; lag time causes you to miss turns ; if streets are close together it can't tell them apart until after you have passed the one you wanted ; no battery tool

Read this to find out what you're not getting from this

This is a pretty good device all around. Its durable, easy to use for someone even in gloves, and it can be used in conjunction with Harley's ride planner to plan your route.

Its an awesome product that works as advertised. Good with gloves, big screen, and weather resistant. Works well with HD's rideplanner

Really only good on a bike and it has to be powered from that bike if you want voice

Good motocycle GPS for finding places

Just took the Zumo450 on a trip to Rolling Thunder (in DC). Used it instead of my 60cx. It was easy to see on the bike, the screen is great. MP3 player was great. Touch screen was great. Nice GPS to find a location & get to it. But for a motorcyclist,...

Easy to read in sunlight, touch screen, mp3 player great

Uploading waypoints, routes bad. No reverse routes

Great GPS,great price, an excellent investment for a biker

This was a great purchase. It mounted onto my Goldwings ram mount with no problem. Wiring provided was more than long enough. In the 400 mile ride I went on the screen was never washed out by the sunlight and the adjustable brightness with the big...

Big easy to read screen, simple menus, 4Gig SD capability for da tunes

In smaller towns mapping tried to send me down a dirt road as fastest route...not good

Simple to use and set up.

My first GPS and it's great. I love riding a motorcycle with no destination in mind, just go. Being able to get instant directions is sweet. After a long ride just pick your home location and you have a route to get back no problem. I don't need the...

Well made and easy to use

No AC charger supplied. Car mount and bike mount use different connectors

Great unit for auto and motorcycle.

I upgraded from a Garmin Quest to the Zumo 450 and I have to say it's 10 times better. larger, easy to read, display. All North American maps already loaded. POIs can be added (I added all Harley Davidson dealers). It's very easy to move from my...

Easy to use, easy to see display

Battery life could be better but if you are running from motorcycle/auto battery it's not a problem

Excellent GPS for Bikes and Cars

I'm one of the first in Canada to get his hands on the Zumo 450. This is my first GPS ever, as I needed one for my upcoming motorcycle trips starting this spring. I picked this one up early as I thought I would need a lot of time to practice with it....

Quick set up, accurate, easy to use, great for bikes

Price a little high, consider 550 as extras would cost same

GARMIN zumo 450 3.5" Portable Motorcycle Navigation

Bought my 450 about 6 months ago for use on my VFR, but no long trips yet. The retention screw isn't worth the trouble, the mount can be unscrewed and the cable cut by a thief to bypass it, and all the screw does is get in the way, especially if you've...

Save a few bucks over the 550 if you don't need BlueTooth, this one works just as well. GPS tracking is pretty good, and directions come up with enough time to react. Earphone audio is strong with excellent quality, MP3 playing will pause while...

Large, awkward shape makes it easy to drop and hard to get into the mount. Security screw is always screwing itself in with bike vibration, and the mating driver's keychain retention is on the driver, not the cap, making it almost impossible to use. I...
