Magellan eXplorist 310 review

The Magellan eXplorist 310 is an entry-level handheld GPS and the newest member of the eXplorist family. The 310 is based on the same hardware platform as the popular eXplorist GC and like that model, includes paperless geocaching functionality. Unlike...

Paperless geocaching features with filters ; Backcountry navigator ; Excellent pre-loaded basemap of roads

Too many steps to reach some key screens ; No topo maps included ; Small screen ; Screen difficult to read in bright light ; Occasional lags in responsiveness

The Magellan eXplorist 310 is a capable entry level handheld, albeit one with paperless geocaching features. It has an excellent pre-loaded highway map, although I do see the lack of pre-loaded or widely available free topos as a downside.

Best Deal In The Price Range

Why Magellan eXplorist 310 over the Garmin comparable? For me, I was sold on the topo map that came with this bundled offer. Saved me $50 that I would have had to pay to get a regional topo map. (Yes the map offer is only for one area of the country,...

Great first gps for geocaching

This is my first handheld GPS, I bought it primarily for geocaching, although it can be used for other things with downloadable maps, such as atv trails and snowmobile trails. So far it has taken me close to geocaches every time within a few feet. I'm...

Great price, downloadable maps, great battery life with lithium batteries

Joystick button gets pressed while moving side to side or up and down

Very disappointing

I ordered this GPS for a trip to Italy, specifically Venice. I have to say that I am very disappointed in it. Synchronization with the satellites was very poor and slow. The pre-loaded routes were extremely annoying and confusing and the lack of POIs...

Magellan eXplorist 310

This is a great little device. It is very accurate for geocaching. Also, it makes for a nice device to use with bicycling. The screen is somewhat small, but this is expected for this type of a portable GPS unit. Good long battery life. I have used it...

More than I need yet easy to use.

I was looking for a unit that would map my snowshoe hikes. Not that I would get lost because you can always turn around and follow your tracks back but to learn the distance and time for each outing. Yes, I could use a watch to get the time but this...

harder to figure out than I expected

Got this for Christmas to use for geocaching and I have had a hard time figuring out how to use it, but it is getting better. Like it better than hubby's Magellan Triton 400. I am new to GPS use except for the one installed in my car. It is easy to...

Great GPS, bad service from Amazon

This is a great GPS for the price point at which it is sold. Some reviewers will take off stars because the Explorist 310 lacks features that are normally only found in units that cost hundreds of dollars more, but that isn't fair. For a $140.00 unit,...

Geocache GPS

GPS is proforming well. I think any issues with downloading the caches is with Magellan's site. Keeps asking me is I want a more current version of the interface. I've downloaded it numerous times and have spoken to Magellan regarding this issue. GPS...
