Good Budget Color Unit.

 

GPS works great and has lots of great features. Topo detail maps work excellent with this unit. Only problem is battery adaptor is a bit flimsy and bends out of shape but not a big problem as you just have to bend it back into shape.

MAGELLAN eXplorist 500 Compact Mapping Color GPS

 

The Motorola Cellphone battery Model Number SNN5595B also fits this unit. I bought one and it worked fine in my GPS. It was much cheaper than Magellans.

Small and ease of use. I bought the mapping software also, and it was very easly to tranfer the maps. I have all of Washington, Oregon, and Idaho on one map. This only took up 52 meg of my SD card. Buy a SD Card to go with it. The Magellan also seems...

Mine was a lemon

 

Hopefully I'll be up and running again before summer is over, as the only service the GPS has seen thus far is one road trip from Tacoma to Seattle.

It worked right out of the box (for a week.. and then nothing)

Navigation joystick wouldn't go right (only UP,DWN,LFT) and after a week the unit would even turn on. Had to RMA direct to Magellan and then are sending me a new battery..but the unit won't operate even when AC power is plugged in
