Review: Magellan Triton 2000

The Triton is a GPS unit with ADD. It can't decide whether it's a MP3 player, a 2-megapixel camera or a video player. It also...

Waterproof. Uses highly detailed National Geographic TOPO! Maps that are available by the dozen in any outdoor store. Combination GPS and multimedia device

Bulky, heavy and hard to hold. More fragile than some other models. GPS was about 30 feet off from our actual location on the provided demo map

Magellan Triton 2000

All-frills GPS

Touch screen, integrated camera, external antenna port, flashlight

Fiddly USB connection, camera lens prone to scratching, expensive

It may have a hefty price tag but the Triton 2000 offers plenty of features. The touch screen makes this device much easier to use than units that only have a navigational pad.

Magellan Triton 2000 review

A sat nav for the great outdoors

Robust design ; Plenty of useful features ; Good screen ; Impressive performance

Pricey ; Sluggish to locate satellites in built-up areas

Some nice extras, but there needs to be a more comprehensive selection of maps to make this a good value sat nav

Triton 2000

I'm going for a Garmin this time!

The camera takes nice pictures.

It works intermittently. The compass does not seem to work. The buttons work off and on. The touch screen is about the same. I will have to return it to the store. Today it would not even track me driving down the road. I emailed tech support and the...

Feature Packed GPS

The Tritan 2000 is packed full of features, and many are at the the touch of the screen. I replaced a Explorist 500 with the Tritan, and Magellan has simplified accessing the many steps of the older gps. Comparing my old and new unit side by side while...

Beware of Magellan products

Be careful with Magellan products. Their support is absolutely terrible. I recently performed a software update from their website on my Meridian Color GPS unit which locked the unit up during the updating process leaving the unit completely inoperative.

Used to be a good company particularly prior to being bought out 2 years ago

Will not support a GPS product that was sold up through December of 2005
