TomTom GO Live 1005 review

Fantastic live services and design, but this new 5-inch TomTom isn't without its niggles

TomTom GO LIVE 1005 World

TomTom's new flagship adds Twitter updates, comprehensive mapping and online travel information services.

Extensive world map package ; Twitter update facility ; TripAdvisor and Expedia services

Automated Twitter updates can annoy followers ; LIVE services only available in some of Europe ; Premium price

On paper, this function will either fill you with horror or a sense of possibility, or maybe both. On the one hand, there are definitely situations where having a publicly accessible statement of where you are going and when you might get there could...

TomTom Go Live 1005 Review

Not the cheapest, but we reckon the big screen, software and slickness are well worth the outlay

TomTom’s Go Live 1005 calculates its routes double-quick, taking into account the time of travel, using the most accurate traffic info and laying it all out on the clearest, newest, most smoothly anim

TomTom GO LIVE 1005

After raising the bar with the GO LIVE 1000, TomTom now increases the screen size.

The extra screen real estate may be the only difference between the TomTom GO LIVE 1005 and the European mapping version of the 1000, and you pay a £40 premium for this 0.7in greater display. But that means it's still the same cracking navigational...

TomTom Go Live 1005

Sure, your phone might have a free satnav service these days, but it won't be as good as TomTom Live's: with bang up to date maps built in, a huge five-inch screen and even live traffic, this is the gold standard of turn by turn. At least, on paper: we...

TomTom Go Live 1005 World 5-inch GPS Review

In an increasingly competitive GPS market, does TomTom's latest flagship device measure up?

In a day and age where most people are happy to simply download GPS software onto their smartphones, the question many GPS manufacturers must ask themselves is, “Are we still relevant?”

TomTom Go Live 1005 World review

If your car doesn't have one already built-in and your smartphone doesn't quite crack it, the TomTom Go Live 1005 World is a top of the range sat-nav, which provides good routes in real-time for avoiding traffic.

Review TomTom's Go Live 1000 series of high-end PNDs debuted in September in 4.3in form but the recently arrived 1005 model is the first TomTom to break the 5in barrier. In common with the lesser 1000 series models, the 1005 also has a capacitive...

Expensive but extremely capable PND for the serious driver.

Had the product for a while now and still no "live", this TomTom was purchased as a replacement for my go910, I wish I had updated the old one as so far it is better at doing what it is supposed to do

Excellent piece of equipment

So far seems to be very good. Very large screen, certainly not to everyone's choice! Good directions and the live traffic information is invaluable.

Product Specifications

The GO LIVE 1005 is TomTom's first device range to feature the capacitive Fluid Touch screen which lets drivers pinch to zoom in and out of maps, or scroll through menus with the tips of their fingers. The screen responds intelligently and sensitively to even the lightest touch, making interaction more responsive than in any of its predecessors. And combined with an extra-wide touch screen measuring 13cm (5"), the GO 1005 features the clearest view on the road ahead with even easier operation and functionality.
