I have experienced the same problems as the above reviewers. The Min Index marker will not sit on top of the mercury column properly. I have tried shaking it down as per the instructions on the packet but this did not help. Pressing the button does not...

A useful item, of the 3 I ordered 2 failed to function, the blue rods became surrounded by the mercury and no amount of shaking helped the problem, however the other one works perfectly and is extremly easy to use.

Not a good buy. The Homebase version costs less. The West product has a nasty bright white plastic case and the "Min" indicator tends to stick up and need shaking down to the mercury level. If this goes on I will send it back.
