Gigabyte Aivia Osmium Mechanical Keyboard

It is now common to see gaming peripherals in the marketplace that originate from manufacturers that are originally known for producing high-quality computer components. Gamers certainly welcome this trend, and we all hope that it continues because the...

Cherry MX Red mechanical switches ; Integrated USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 ports ; Removable wrist rest ; Adjustable backlighting ; Ghost software - 5 gaming profiles ; Quality of construction

Positioning of headphone/mic jacks & USB 3.0 port ; More variety of backlighting colors ; Expensive price

Before sharing with you my conclusion regarding the Gigabyte Aivia Osmium Mechanical Gaming Keyboard, I would like to point out that this entire review is based on my personal experience with it and is, therefore, subjective. Some of the products we...

Gigabyte Aivia Osmium Mechanical Gaming Keyboard Review

Offering some interesting features we put the Osmium through its paces to see if it keeps up the high standard that Aivia/Gigabyte have set.

The Osmium is another quality product from Aivia. With a very high build quality, good software support and macro control. With USB 3.0 support the Osmium sets a high standard for mechanical gaming keyboards.

Lacking functionality & support

Long story short: Who has time to deal with cruddy hardware, software, and support? I certainly don't. If you search around for issues on this keyboard, the problems are obvious and everywhere. I'm glad some people got good keyboards, but I'd advise...

Most of the elements of a normal keyboard are present. The backlighting is great, the functionality of the mechanical keys is also good. Light control seems to work pretty good

Lots of cons ; 1. When plugged into a USB 3.0 port, the keyboard sometimes fails to function at all. They lights come on, but there is no response from hitting any keys ; 2. The macros fail to work. I had a simple macro working for 1 day. The next day,...

Randomly disconnects also

Overall, I like this keyboard very much but the random disconnects just make it a huge pain to work with.

Cherry MX red switches. Backlit LEDs. Not overly large with too many macros and/or extra keys (I prefer a more traditional keyboard layout/style - I don't like keyboards that have 20+ macro keys on the left side). USB port and audio jacks

Same problem as Jason mentioned. The keyboard will just disconnect at seemingly random times. Sometimes it happens every 5 minutes, sometimes it will go for weeks without an issue ; Keys themselves are a tad thinner (less width from left to right)...

Sudden smokey death

There are plenty of bad reviews on this here and I ignored that because this keyboard had exactly what I wanted in a keyboard. Should have listened to my gut.

This was a very nice keyboard while it lasted

It died after 9 months. The backlights just turned off, the keys stopped responding and I started to smell smoke coming from the keyboard

2 days in and already having serious problems

This keyboard is amazing as far as looks and feel, but for over $100 for a keyboard, especially from such a large company, I am totally blown away that I'm having issues straight out of the gate. I contacted Gigabyte support, and their only answer, was...

This keyboard looks, and feels amazing, I instantly picked up another 4wpm typing when I started using this board. The LEDS are quite bright, and even look pretty good when illumination is turned down quite a bit. If this board would stay in working...

The only cons with this keyboard are very serious. I've been using it for 2 days, and once a day, this board has completely quit working. I will be in the middle of typing or playing a game, and whatever key I'm pressing at the time sticks, the board...

Great K Board - bad software

This was my first dedicated "gaming" keyboard I have purchased and I am sorely disappointed in its performance. As a keyboard it is really built well and has excellent fell. I really wished the software was up to par. I will check Gygabite website now...

excellent feel, The switches are great. Lighting makes the keys easy to read and is crisp. Overall construction is top notch

ok where to begin.... After about 1 week the back;lighting started randomly blinking (I would later find out that when the backlitghs blinked the keyboard was turning off and on!). The macros while easy to set up for 1 key (not the 70 macros per key -...

GIGABYTE GK-OSMIUM

I'm not sure if this is a problem or not but sometimes when i shutdown my computer the big backlit aivia button stay on.

First off, I love this keyboard. Everything about it is fantastic imo. The cherry mx red switches are perfect for me, the macro controls and programming are effective and relatively easy to use. I frequently use the usb 3 throughput as it is a lot...

The location of the usb3 port, headphone, and mic jacks on the right side of the keyboard is annoying. My mouse sits directly to the right of the keyboard and if i plug anything in there i tend to bump them while using my mouse ; For someone who has...

Great keyboard, questionable software

The software that you can download from GIGABYTE's website is triggering trojan warnings on VirusTotal. I will not install it until they release one that passes green. Other than that I love the keyboard!

Great keys. USB 3.0 and other features work great

The legs on the keyboard fold too easily. I'm always adjusting the keyboard on my desk and when I push it forward the legs collapse. Very annoying ; There is no Windows key on the right hand side so I cannot "Windows Key" + L to quickly lock my...

Stay Away

The first one lasted 6 months before registering multiple keystrokes on some keys. RMA'd it. With this one my computer says it can't find a driver for the usb hub in it, and shuts down the whole keyboard. If I unplug it and plug it back in the keyboard...

Customer service was easy to use although didn't do me much good

First one lasted only 6 months. Second one won't work with my computer
